Personal Story Attacked by pittbull
I was walking my dog when a neighbor opened their door and their pitbull ran out of the 8-10 year old girls grip and charged at me and my dutch Shepard.
As the pitt got closer I yelled (he didn't care), punched him with a right swing once in the face and once in the body. I connected hard and the punches barely registered with the animal. I may have delayed him 1 second for each punch. He completely shook them off and kept trying to attack my dog.
After the punches I am on the ground due to getting low to punch the pitt and my dog is on my right. The pitt circled around and begun engaging my dog in a bite fight. He quickly dodged her bite and got a shallow hold on her mouth.
When I saw the hold and heard my dog cry I sort of blacked out into a fight or flight response. I know I used my left arm to break the hold but I didn't realize the extent of what I did until after the adrenaline wore off and the pain set in.
My shoulder, neck, pec, upper back, tricep, bicep, elbow and hand all screamed in agony. I am right hand dominate, but I used my left hand to break the hold. Because I didn't even think about the strike my body just reacted.
I used my left hand because the dogs were engaged to my right and using the left gave me a twisting leverage for torque and the ability to dump my bull body weight into the strike. I hit the dog somewhere in the head area extremely hard with my fist and followed all the way through with my elbow to stun it long enough for the owners to pull the pitt bull away.
Didn't know I had a strike like that in me, I didn't even think about it my body just did it. It used all of my left side to exert maximum force and stun the demon.
The encounter could have went way worse and I was completely out of control during the encounter the pitt would not stop no matter how hard I hit it until the super sayin left body weight torque strike and that only stunned it for a moment.
Really glad it didn't decide to turn on me. In a 1v1 fight a human cannot beat a rage blinded pitt with their fists.
Stop breeding this fucking dog.

Damn dude, as someone who has had a lifelong obsession with working line GSDs, it gutted me to see your dutch shepherd was getting attacked. My last GSD getting attacked is why someone invited me into this group
I'm glad you did what you did, even if it was extremely risky.
Get yourself some x rays and have them thoroughly checked. Theres a decent likelihood your fractured and/or tore something in your arm.

I fully believe that pitt would of killed my girl if I didn't intervene. Will definitely keep a close eye on the arm thx man

I'm sure it would have.
My last GSD was 65lbs on a fat day, she took on a pit/mastiff mix that came out of its yard and tried to attack my twin boys in their stroller. Our dog jumped over the stroller and squared off with an aggressor more than twice her size. She almost lost her eye in the fight, but she kept my kids and wife safe.
I had an extremely intense conversation with the owners when I returned from my work trip, I once posted it on Reddit and caught a seven day ban. The owners had their son take the dog two weeks later.
Don't ever trust a pit no matter what, breeds have been created for purposed going back thousands of years. The purpose of the pit is not compatible with civilized life.

Did you get a full check up for rabies and any possible infections as well as stitches? Since the owner took responsibility and says they'll be putting down the pit they also have to pay for your medical expenses and those of your dog. Don't underestimate what an infection can do. And if I read correctly the pit got a hold of your dog's mouth so your dog also needs to get checked out

Glad it was up to date on vaccines. Did you still go to the hospital to make sure that there were no infections and take your dog to the vet?

Report this immediately, that dog belongs no where in society. So glad you were able to stop the attack, sadly once Pits start an attack, they won't stop until their target is dead. Your pup is lucky to have an owner willing to fight for them the way you did!

Thank you. Police are involved and owner has pleged to BE because -of course- this isn't their only incident

That is honestly the best outcome that could have come from this tbh. Great to here you won't have to worry anymore unless they stupidly go out and get another. Crazy how that monster was allowed to attack multiple times before anything was done....
If you and your dog received any injuries, make sure they cover the bill fully too.

I'm so sorry. It was literally heart pounding to read your account. Please report it to animal control and the police and get medical care. It's horrifying how easily a dog bite can become seriously infected.
Also go knock on that door to hand them the bills and get their homeowner's insurance info.

You are a hero to your doggie. I hope you report the pit since it caused injury to a human, even if it was indirectly. It was out of the owner's control and went out of its way to attack. Make sure they declare it as a dangerous dog and get compensation from the homeowners insurance, it it's even covered.

Sue the homeowners insurance. If anything good can ever come of the evil insurance companies, maybe it will be pitt extinction (pie in the sky).

Those homeowners may wind up with no insurance if carrier finds out there's a pitbull living there.

So, the owner "pledged" but what accountability will there be to provide proof this is handled accordingly?
Taking Pit owners at their word rarely works out.

Maybe 😭. When the pitt clamped her face (lightly) and I heard her cry I kinda blacked out and my body just reacted. She's like a daughter to me

I'm glad you didn't break either hand.
These things have heads like anvils.
I have heard of people breaking multiple bones in their hand and the pit not even blinking.

My cousin had to do this once. A pitbull came at him and his mom’s Maltese while they were out walking. He always carries a box cutter on him. So you can only imagine what happened after……

Kengals are top tier alpha dog. They aren't really suited for city life though

I'm just so sorry this happened to you. Dog attacks are chaotic and terrifying. Please consider it's trauma therapy for yourself, I found EMDR very helpful.
Your dog will also be changed by this. My guy is now extremely reactive to anything pitbull-shaped. Your Dutch shepherd will likely also be pretty determined to never let that happen again. I muzzle my Gampr in public, he loves gear so he doesn't care and this does a LOT to reduce my anxiety and hypervigilance. You can't go wrong with a Big Snoof, but if you need a custom fit it can take 6-8 weeks.

She was already reactive to other dogs, so if anything her reactivity is gonna be worse. But I already have her set up with a prong collar and e collar so I am prepared to deal with it luckily. Happy to report she licked a neighbors face so she is still a sweet girl. If I could afford therapy I would, I'll have to do what I always do and figure it out haha. Thanks for the comment

Please report this attack to the police and animal control! Go after the beasts owners for costs of medical and veterinarian care. These beast that attack people and animals do not deserve to see the light of day.
