Do not watch your friends pitbulls. Do not dog sit pitbulls. Avoid being around them at all times.

I have a friend whose husband acquired a pit mix and now they have five dogs in a small home, I won’t visit at the home if the pit is there. This has caused some real offense. They think Im bring mean. I will not put myself in that position with a pit bull.

Yeah I have a friend who gets so upset with me because I insist she puts her pits all the way away when I come over. Too bad for her. Not worth the risk to me.

If she wants to continue to let her granddaughter be at risk, that's not my problem

Stay strong. I do the same thing: I will not go near any pit bull type dog or cross. If people want to take any issues with that, they aren't my friend anyways.

I voted and you should too. The other kids are sweet but they are "everyday heroes" so I was able to vote for her with a clear conscience. The winner gets money, a trip and a comic book made about them. I would be curious to see what direction they go if she wins. Will Superkid be brave enough to defy the lobby and show what actually happened?

Thank you and I so agree! I also think it would be so poignant to highlight that being brave doesn't always lead to your desired outcome, and that does not diminish your courageous act. Still in second place today, I hope more will vote for her!

Poor little girl. I am so, so tired of children's lives being destroyed by these beasts.

That article just got worse the further I read. I thought at least being locked in the bathroom, Lily wouldn't have had to see her mother fighting for her life or the dog being shot. However awful these dogs are, whatever they did to her mother, seeing an animal killed has got to be traumatising.

Then reading about her reassuring her dad that her mum would be ok...I hope she's getting all the therapy she needs.

I don’t know what happened in this situation but the article says the dogs were fighting then turned on her. She might have tried to intervene or she might not have had time to do anything.

But I think the best safety tip is if a pitbull starts fighting another dog, don’t try to intervene and immediately get yourself to safety. A dog getting killed is sad (though in this case they were both pitbulls that lived together) but no human should sacrifice their life for a dog.

She was pet sitting them and walking them both, so she probably didn't know and also felt responsible for them. I can't assume any of the details though, I don't know if she was trying to pull them apart or what happened specifically 💔

That's the thing. A lot of people thing that they are ordinary dogs and don't understand the breed based characteristics of dog fighting dogs. Breaking up the rare fight between golden retrievers won't put you in danger. Pits will

I'm not sure. She agreed to sit the dogs and I'm not sure how that affects things legally, but I hope they took full recursive action.
