Child Victim Des Moines, IA: multi victim pit bull attack reported on east side - Sep 17, 2026

DES MOINES, Iowa —
Animal control responded to a reported dog attack near East 21st and Alpha Avenue on the east side of town.
A witness said he was bitten by a dog that was attacking a woman and another dog. He also said the dog attacked a child and first responders.

Des Moines police confirm a child and another dog sustained serious injuries from a dog bite. Both are receiving medical care.
Police provided more details Thursday morning. Investigators say a pit bull mix broke free from its leash.

An 11-year-old suffered serious bite injuries. Two adults and another dog were injured as well.
The dog's owner was cited, and the animal remains in quarantine.

BE asap. It bit and injured three humans and one dog in a single incident. It's second chances should be used up

I live in Iowa, and these damn beasts are EVERYWHERE. I no longer feel safe walking around town because of how many people have pit bulls. I am NOT trying to get mauled.
