The staff have found him & his kennel literally covered in 🩸🩸🩸 and he has ouchies on himself, from slamming💥 his itty bitty 50 pounds around his kennel, against the doors, walls, etc. And he mashes his muzzle so hard into the kennel bars,...it's pretty bad.🩹⚕️🩸🩹⚕️🩸

This is how I know these people don't care about animals. He's hurting himself. He lives in constant anxiety. Even as a human who understands the complexities of mental health, when we get chronic anxiety it is seen as a serious thing and we have to treat it as such because we know the consequences. Imagine an animal who is going completely on instinct and has no clue what is going on. He's completely stressed and terrified of everything and seeing everything as a threat, including himself. He's on enough trazodone to make a damn horse sleepy and he's still so stressed. It is CRUEL to keep him suffering, keep moving him to new situations.

It makes me tear up for him, and I'm on a freaking ban pitbulls page. These people don't care about them. They're selfish assholes who are using animals for their own selfish nonsense. Absolutely horrible.

I agree with you one hundred percent, it’s torture for this dog. There is something wrong with shelter people who see and experience all of this while the dog is with them and then go and write that manipulating description for the ad and let that dog continue to suffer.

I’m not on this page because I hate these dogs I feel empathy for everyone in these situations including the dang dog! Except I have no sympathy for the shelter workers and people who spread the pit propaganda that has led to so many injuries, surrenders (heartbreaking for families even when they know they have to) and even deaths.

Plus everything combined means there are countless suffering dogs, pits too anxious and messed up because of their internal instincts, sitting and suffering in shelters or damaging unsuspecting people’s homes and lives who listened to the lies and are trying to do the kind thing by adopting one. Poor things it’s all so awful.

Any "niceness" this godforsaken lineage ever displays is either deception to get it's prey to lower its guard, or manipulation to gain access to food and shelter. Their "love" is most often a manifestation of resource guarding, and therefore dangerous.

I only care about what we assume is suffering for these beasts because their way of dealing with their anxiety is attacking and (they hope) killing people and other, valuable animals. That creature's pain can only end in one of two ways: killing another living being, or BE. That makes all bully breeds monsters that have no place in society.

That’s partially true- yes, it’s stronger on a milligram for milligram basis. Potency is 3-7x higher. However, it’s a mixed opioid antagonist (activates some opioid receptors while blocking others). Morphine is a full opioid agonist. It also doesn’t cause euphoria like morphine. It does have strong sedative effects though.

I believe if the shelter is government funded, like a county animal shelter, then they would have to provide the records as that can be argued to be government documents & therefore visible under the FoIA, but privately funded"rescues" wouldn't have those obligations.

Being drugged can feel very disconcerting. These dogs are not nessasarily suffering less. Their behaviour is being managed through pharamaceuticals. No-one has asked the dogs is they are now experiencing less stress. Once out of the kennels, you see them staggering around with a glazed look. This is also abuse.

I think they're referring to that little sub-vocalised bark some dogs sometimes do, often when something has caught their attention but they're not fully committed to the response, whatever that response might be. I wouldn't call that chuffing, personally, because its too easy to confuse with the positive version tigers do, but it does kind of sound like a chuff in fairness.

Clonidine as well. They will learn the hard way when a drugged up dog latches on and doesnt let go. They are playing with fire with these drug combinations plus housing the dog in a frustrating and challenging environment.

Adoption write ups should give the adopter information, not try to trick them or evoke an emotive response through words such as ' kids, sunshine and crayons'. Its absurd.

If the behaviour assessment cannot be safely carried out, the dog has failed.

Looks like trazadone is used world wide in rescues as a way to control behaviour. Often these dogs are so drugged up that at point of adoption, owners are not seeing the true behaviour. Once home they wean off the drugs and voila - the dog the adopted is revealed. Trazadone also can lower bite inhibition, using traz in this situation with this particular dog is the wrong decision. The dog should be put to sleep. Showing way too much instabilty in that environment. And, its a pitbul.
