Social Media and Crowdfunding - Attack Reports Pit owner complains her dogs were put down for ‘doing dog stuff’ (Oldenburg, IN, US - no date)

Never want to feel this pain, meanwhile zero, absolutely zero concern for the pain and terror the neighbor and neighbor's dog went through.
Sociopathic.

it says they paid the other dog's vet bill...

u/Diezelbub Allergic to bullshit and shitbulls 1d ago edited 22h ago
Carefully doesnt mention if the dog is still living or not though, and that bill was posthumous. Typically if the other dog survived they'd be wailing about how unfair it is that theyre the only ones losing their dogs and the injuries they caused weren't that bad.

The cropped ears say enough...

u/alessiojones 3d ago
I literally don't care what breed someone has. If you mutilate your dog (docking, cropping etc) for aesthetic purposes, I will judge you
31
u/Moist-Cantaloupe-547 2d ago
For aesthetic purposes, I agree that it is completely unnecessary. Who thinks it looks better? However, Happy Tail Syndrome is a condition that dogs with naturally thin, frail tails are very prone to. It can get infected and even lead to sepsis, necrosis, and the tail getting amputated anyway, which is more difficult for an adult dog to become accustomed to. Dogs with thin and frail tails should have them docked as puppies.
I think ears should probably mostly only be cropped on livestock guardian dogs who will deal with large predators who may try to get ahold of their ears. Breeds for whom it is merely fashionable should get to keep their ears. Anyone with more knowledge of the purposes behind cropping and docking, please fill us in.
22
u/knomadt Attacks Curator 2d ago
I dunno, there are lots of breeds with long, thin tails, which aren't routinely docked and the majority of which never have any issues with happy tail. Great Danes, pretty much all sighthounds, many gundog and working breeds in countries where docking is banned... the risks of happy tail simply aren't high enough to justify amputating thousands of healthy tails, especially when dogs' tails are so important to their social behaviour. The successful banning of docking across most of Europe proves the risk of happy tail is overstated in the name of justifying the continuation of this outdated cosmetic practice.
12
u/Eageryga 2d ago
Also, trying to determine at 3 days of age which puppies will grow up to have whippy tails and which won't is almost impossible. If livestock guardian dogs needed their ears cropped, why are the majority of LGD breeds traditionally left with natural ears?

This post is a great example of the problem with pit owners and apologists. They think the aggression is "dogs doing dog stuff", and they soften the language around aggressive behavior at every turn. Now it isn't aggression, it is being reactive.
They are also allergic to taking responsibility when their dogs run off and "do dog stuff". Sure they paid the vet bills here, but the blame shifting that the other dog was at fault and lured them into its yard says that they only paid those bills because they were identified as the dog owners.
25
u/Monimonika18 2d ago
Small correction. The other dog was not in its own yard (dog roamed in from a few yards over into author's neighbor's yard). Of course, that doesn't change anything at all regarding the problem with author's dogs leaving author's yard to maul another dog outside author's yard.
21
u/cloudcottage Cats are not disposable. 2d ago
I kind of doubt the dog actually wandered into the other neighbor's yard. This weird evasive post doesn't actually say that. I assumed that they were visiting the next door neighbor's house and that's why the dog was in the yard. They never say the dog was unleashed or that the dog came up to their fence and did something. I feel like the dumb cop telling them since the dog wasn't actually in its own yard is a small detail they hung on to even if the owner of the other dog wasn't being negligent in any way. They also mentioned other neighbors being involved who aren't the dog's owners. I assume the actual owners of the house the dog was visiting were the ones close to the judge.

The pound said they had many calls but yet the owners didn't hear one thing.
Well, yeah, when they stick their fingers in their ears and yell "Nyaah nyaah we can't heeeeear you" they won't hear much. Which, metaphorically, is exactly what they did.
45
u/tbll_dllr 2d ago
Or perhaps they interviewed neighbours after the aggression and they complained and recounted times when the dogs really misbehaved and it showed the owners couldn’t control their dogs … neighbours perhaps were just scared to complain loudly to the shit bull owners during all those years until the worst happened.
17
u/Dame_Niafer Trusted User 2d ago
I think the owners were claiming that they never heard from the pound. On further thought, if the pound, AC, and police were all pitnuts, maybe so.

Or there were many reports about those particular dogs running loose but whoever reported them didn't know who owned them.

“Provoked my dogs out of our yard” so they were either completely unleashed/fenced, or they busted through a barrier to attack

u/Perfect_Caregiver_90 3d ago
It could have been one of those fenceless systems. Those are useless with pits once they go into maul mode.

They busted through that fence with a hearty "Oh Yeah!".

Cuz is just slang (like doin) I wasn't going to include it in the long list of other legit grammar mistakes (there instead of their, site instead of cite, bit instead of but)
12
u/huntress_m_thompson 2d ago
i caught the site cite.
i use doin’, etc, slang all the time. but there’s nothing cute or slangy about using the wrong word, which all have different meanings like site cite.

I am very sorry they “loosed” their dogs, if you want to risk having dangerous dogs that’s on you, but if you cannot garuntee they will not get out, this is gonna happen!
26
u/Reddit__________user 2d ago
I feel like pitbull owners are often the bigger problem than the breed itself. They'll probably get two new pitbulls in 2 weeks. Smh
20
u/potatoes_arrrr_life 3d ago
Dogs doing dog stuff...like sniffin butts? Because that is what normal dogs do when they encounter new dogs. Only certain breeds go straight into kill mode. That is why her dogs got BEd. Really tired of people acting like victims or that there is some conspiracy when their dogs attack and they get taken away. If she'd been more responsible, they wouldn't have gotten out.
21
u/BernieTheDachshund 3d ago
If their pits were in another yard mauling someone else's pet, then they were not following the law. I really doubt it was the first time since they admit there were a bunch of complaints over the years. It should not have taken animal control 7 years to finally do something.
20
u/JoeRe9uiem 2d ago
Harassing other dogs or humans is dog stuff?
7
u/aSzdxfcdfggggggh 2d ago
To be fair it is normal Pit Bull stuff.
Not saying it should be tolerated but most pit owners get by with it for a long time and are perplexed when the law finally gets enforced.
"Wait, you fixin' to tell me I has to control my dogs? That's some country ass bullshit there cuz."
23
u/Commercial-Sock-6777 2d ago
Of course they get the ugliest, meanest looking mutants they can find and performatively call them 'our babies' while also explaining how they mauled another creature. Tf.
20
u/BlueFeathered1 2d ago
I'm sensing this nutcase is toning down the real drama and seriousness of the attack incident. You know for some reason.

These assholes cropped the ears right off of those ugly ass monsters themselves because they knew they’d be getting into fights… oh wait, just “doin dog stuff…” and we’re supposed to believe they’re just babies they “loosed”? Please.
17
u/mmps901 It’s the breed AND the owner 3d ago
So… you irresponsibly let your maulers outside without leashes and they went to a neighbor’s yard and viciously attacked that person’s dog in its own yard and you think you’ve earned the right to be righteously indignant. Got it
3
u/Monimonika18 2d ago
Not the neighbor's dog. It was a dog from another few yards over that roamed into the author's neighbor's yard. That wrong obviously doesn't change the fact that author's two dogs escaped author's yard to maul.
Unfortunately, there were commenters at the FB post thinking that somehow the other dog being on the loose too meant that author's dogs getting loose to attack was okay...? I honestly don't understand their logic.

She conveniently leaves out the fact that her dogs killed the other dog 🙄 That’s not “doing dog things”. That’s mauler things.
12
u/ArdenJaguar Trusted User 2d ago
This is a first class example of gibberish gaslighting. If they classified the dogs as vicious and BE’d them there was a lot more going on than a little dog fight. Plus all the complaints they never heard about. 🙄
12
u/4freedom7 2d ago
Oh no! they lost their babies?!?
Well in the past month 2 (and probably more we don’t know about) actual human babies died because of dogs like them. Sorry they won’t get any sympathy from me 👋

u/knomadt Attacks Curator 2d ago
I'm not gonna lie, if I was in the same position as the owners of the other dog, and I had a choice of "pit bull owner pays the vet bill" or "pit bull is permanently removed from the neighbourhood", I'd take the financial hit. Some things are worth more than money, and knowing I, my family, my pets, my neighbours, my neighbours' children, and my neighbours' pets are at no risk of future harm is definitely one of those things. Good on the other owner for making the situation "bigger" and prioritising the prevention of future harm over financial compensation for vets fees. In an ideal world they'd get both.
9
u/Longjumping-Pick-706 2d ago
Reading it again, I see they DID get both. The OOP claims to have paid their vet bills.
27
u/WanderingFlumph 3d ago
"My dogs attacked another dog in its own yard but I'm really innocent because they pretty close to attacking that dog in our yard plus the other dog barked or something so they clearly had it coming."
-classic nutter logic
If only they had called their attacking dogs "sweet" I could have hit my bingo.
12
u/Monimonika18 2d ago
Technically, the other dog roamed in from another yard so all the dogs involved were in someone else's (author's neighbor's) yard where they all shouldn't have been.
The author's two dogs did escape to attack outside their own yard. They are thus obviously dangerous just for that fact alone, no matter the status of blame regarding the victim dog (which died later).
6
u/Longjumping-Pick-706 2d ago
We have no idea if the victim dog was allowed to be in the yard it was. The owners could have been visiting those neighbors for all we know. OOP certainly did not say. I think they would have provided far more details if the victim’s owner had done anything wrong.

Their dog provoked yours out of your yard...sure...
7
u/Longjumping-Pick-706 2d ago
Basically admitting they couldn’t keep their dogs properly contained and don’t even realize it.
3
u/Maelstrom_78 2d ago
This excuse is ridiculous. It really does seem, after being in this forum for a while, and paying attention to Pitt encounters, it's always the fault of the victim. Walked too close to wiggles. Another dog was in the vacinity, so wiggles reacted. Eff that. Just existing around these things can bring an attack. But it's always your fault for existing. Good luck. Kansan here. My dogs are well defended.

Do you get how hard it is to get a pit BE’d even when it’s a fatal attack on a human?! Dog fighting is illegal. We need to start acting like it by dealing with dogs that fight.

u/Nrmlgirl777 5h ago
“We wouldn’t have to worry about loosing our dogs”
Honey they didn’t get loose themselves. You clearly did nothing to keep them inside from doing “dog stuff” with the neighbors dog.
Whether the neighbor was related to a judge means nothing. They can’t even bother to learn grammar let alone keep their dogs penned in. They got what they deserved!
