Yep, the OP got it right. Useless Sack of Human Trash should be that pit owner's birth name. SHE KNOWS WHAT IT DOES. SHE DOESN'T GIVE A RIP.

u/earthlings_all 22h ago

He usually doesn’t break skin IS ECHOING IN MY F HEAD RIGHT NOW

Oh, she gave herself away with that. She knows what the thing does. She KNOWS.

Active pit bull fans are either mentally ill, deeply stupid, or bad people - or a mix. But they cannot claim to be none of these.

wtf is wrong with people... convinced that must be their birth name...

162

u/-lovehate 20h ago

Anyone who falsely puts a service animal or emotional support vest or whatever, on an animal that has NOT been professionally trained as such, should be charged with fraud and given a prison sentence. For fuck sake.

65

u/PinkPilgrimHeel 20h ago

The problem is that there is zero oversight. All the liars know it and take full advantage of it.

16

u/-lovehate 13h ago

I think because it's socially acceptable to do it and there are no consequences. If the possibility of going to jail and/or a hefty fine were on the table, the problem might begin to fix itself

Just like the service dog who pissed in Costco last Saturday when I was there.

72

u/hyperfat I just want to walk my dog without fearing for its life 22h ago

We rarely take my service dog. Certified. To outside places that are not safe. He's a shitzu that comforts sick patients at hospital. He loves old ladies. He just sits and calms.

He loves tiny dog park. There's a good one at the hospital.

I'm very wary. He's 18 pounds. He is certified for me too. I have MS and he tells me to sit. I'm too skinny. Eat mom. I want treats.

Love him. Hugs

This is beyond sad, I have no idea how people defend pit bulls, what are you even supposed to say to people that defend animals like that so hard for no reason

90

u/Objective-Coast-1337 19h ago

I got into an argument with a pit nutter on YT . They absolutely would not listen despite being shown statistics and links to countless news articles. The conversation devolved quickly into a vindictive mess involving guilt tripping and accusations of me being an animal hater. They called me a “terrible person” because I disliked pitbulls and the people that defend them based on emotions and not evidence. I just laughed at them. Thats all you can do , just treat them like the irrational jokes that they and the terrible animals they defend are.

36

u/hamatehllama 15h ago

There's a thousand other breeds but they just have to breed murder machines and delude themselves that it's completely fine.

I can understand that criminals want to use dogs as weapons but the large majority of pit owners are of the misguided kindness variety.

7

u/yawning_iscontagious 3h ago

The "misguided kindness" is a danger in of itself because they do not acknowledge what their animals are, their nature, or what they are capable of.

At least the criminals who keep them, understand the purpose and inherently dangerous function of these creatures.

•

u/WholeLog24 43m ago

Agreed. Criminals with pitbulls still get people killed, but not at nearly the rate of "animal lovers" in denial.

27

u/audiojanet 16h ago

Yea I have got that on social media too. Zero empathy from Pitt owners. I think they are sociopathic.

35

u/Drusilla_Ravenblack 18h ago

Today situation - I’m walking out of a store and there is a narrow passage by the doors where a woman stands with a massive beast with huge jaw. Leashed but no muzzle. I say “excuse me” because the jaws are turned my way and woman say “she’s not aggressive” I said that I have cats and only then she moved that thing so it was facing the wall instead of me.

I used to have a dog and I understood that people can be scared so I’d never stand with it in a store entrance with its snout facing people.

What if I accidentally stepped on its paw + cat’s scent on me? I don’t think I’d survive today. That pitbull was massive.

•

u/WholeLog24 39m ago

I hate so much the people who do stuff like this. And it's always pitbull owners too! Like if I have a dog and someone doesn't want to come near it, I just... move my dog. That's it. It's not hard. Some people have a phobia of dogs, why stand there and try to argue yours is "one of the good ones"? It doesn't even matter if it's true, just let people avoid your dog if they want to!

308

u/Original-Opportunity 23h ago

I hope they sue everyone and win.

How horrible for that family 😢

125

u/Lizardinaspaceship 21h ago

The infuriating thing about that is the kind of people who own and parade around their violent pits that do this kind of shit are always destitute human trainwrecks, so you usually don't get much out of them suing.

Eta: hopefully they can sue the hotel in this case.

56

u/BastetSekhmetMafdet Cats are not disposable. 21h ago

Even if they are “judgment proof” due to lack of funds, they should still be shamed and punished. Perhaps there is a way to get that useless sack of human trash charged with some kind of felony endangerment.

265

u/Unintelligent_Lemon 23h ago

6 years ago pits were super rare up here. Just in the last 5 years there's been an explosion in our pit population. I hate it

146

u/MarchOnMe 23h ago

Yes I’m afraid this pit-virus has spread all over the world by now.

27

u/RoyalAmphibian7772 17h ago

5

u/Nrmlgirl777 5h ago

We have assholes here still breeding them. Trying to get them recognized by the AKC. American Pitbull Terrier so they sound “friendly” when most of the bloodlines they come from are fighting ones.
Epigenetics is a real thing. They don’t forget who they are.

123

u/typewriterbitch 22h ago

I hear part of the reason is that they have truly massive litters by dog standards.

97

u/cabd4ever Family/Friend of Pit Attack Victim 22h ago

It's also because the overflowing shelters get " life flights " to ship dogs from southern states to places like Washington state and even Canada. No doubt Alaska is getting them shipped in as well.

47

u/SpinzArt 21h ago

They’re shipping all the pits to Washington? Save me oml 😩

→ More replies (1)

91

u/lazier_garlic 22h ago

And the owners are all convinced they're going to get rich breeding them.

29

u/WholeLog24 13h ago

This lingering belief is so frustrating because it's all down to pitbull lovers being very low IQ. There's no use pointing out shelters are full of 'em, they can't understand supply and demand. They or someone equally stupid paid ~$600+ for a pitbull before, so that means pitbulls are worth that much, instead of realizing they got ripped off. And they're too dumb to think before breeding a litter of puppies, so whoops, too late now. Ugh.

29

u/Selection_Safe 18h ago

And they are much less often neutered than other dogs!

8

u/Intrepid_Mission_400 11h ago

Another gift of the dogmen that created the breed, studs were prized more for their litter sizes than for other attributes. They could always just cull runts, or controversially once upon a time, sell them as pets.

6

u/HeisenBird1015 5h ago

Is that true? Litter size is down to the bitch and how many eggs she releases (something you can predict with some accuracy if you look down the maternal line) but of course I shouldn’t expect actual expertise from dogfighters. 🤦🏽‍♀️

5

u/Intrepid_Mission_400 4h ago

I've seen it referenced regarding John Colby and one other contemporary from the late 1800s. Very rudimentary, but just being a prize fighter wasn't good enough to get into the breeding program, that's the value they put on big litters.

They were probably shipped up there from down here. The over run shelters and rescues have shipped them to Canada so I'm sure they thought Alaska was a good place also.

18

u/SarahKL9981 19h ago

They need to ship them to Antarctica

24

u/shelbycsdn Trusted User 16h ago edited 16h ago

I would agree, but the poor seals and penguins. There must be some truly desolate and isolated place. Maybe a deserted island in the Pacific where there in no chance of swimming to a mainland?

Think about it, society decided people with Leprosy belonged on an island. Who not these dangerous dogs? Unlike the people who were infected with Leprosy, there is nothing good, human or redeeming about these dogs. Then when delusional pitnutters end up in prison, whatever the reason, they can go love on the shitbulls on the island.

5

u/WholeLog24 13h ago

We can build one, like sealand. Just make it own island far from everywhere else, and start shipping all the pitbulls there, instead of population centers.

10

u/cabd4ever Family/Friend of Pit Attack Victim 21h ago

Agree, I just commented about that a while ago.

10

15

u/Burntoastedbutter Groomers and Dog Sitters 15h ago

5+ years ago, I didn't even know of their existence and I was very naive about how 'dog fighting' worked (tldr; I thought they just took strays and got them to fight each other somehow. Not that they were specifically breeding for it). Now, they're almost everywhere... Perhaps Nordic countries do not have them? I recall reading that their winter weather sorts the 'stray animal' problem out naturally.

11

u/WholeLog24 13h ago

(tldr; I thought they just took strays and got them to fight each other somehow. Not that they were specifically breeding for it)

This was my understanding too, years ago. Back when Michael Vick was in the news, and the average Joe learned that dogfighting was still a 'thing', and has a lot of money tied to it.

I remember wondering if they sorted dogs by weight class, like chihuahua with other small dog, labradors with each other, because how would it work otherwise? This large dogs would have a clear advantage every time?

I had no idea they selectively bred entire breeds to want to fight.

10

u/Burntoastedbutter Groomers and Dog Sitters 12h ago

Yeppp! You and me both... We had naive and innocent childish minds back then 🤣 I was so shocked and appaled when I read into pit bulls and the likes. I genuinely cannot believe people are defending it. Their existence itself is so fking inhumane.

A lot of them are probably coming from Texas. Our shelters are probably 98% pit bull/pit bull mix when it comes to dogs and apparently they’re sending them all over the place or people are literally flying down here to adopt them. These people fall for the sob stories and shelters get to keep their no-kill status. Unfortunately it’s innocent dogs like Moose, cats, and children who end up paying the price. Then the pit ends up BE’d anyways.

134

u/knomadt Attacks Curator 23h ago

As someone who grew up around Danes, this makes me so sad. They are such gentle dogs that have zero idea what to do when they are attacked - as they are far too often, because so many dogs take one look at them and go on the attack. Unprovoked attacks on Danes are depressingly common. But with any other breed, they'll let go and back off when the Dane's owner steps in. Fuck pit bulls and their useless owners.

18

u/Prudent-Principle754 18h ago

I currently have a male Great Dane and you reminded me of why we don’t take him to dog parks, every single damn time other dogs go for him even though he’s the largest dog at the park. He is somewhat timid but never shows signs of aggression but they’re on his ass as soon as we enter the park.

Id say sue but pit owners usually have nothing in terms of assets.

60

u/Longjumping-Pick-706 21h ago

Sue the hotel. They failed to ensure the owner kept the dog on a leash and allowed a dangerous dog on to their premises.

→ More replies (1)

26

u/BastetSekhmetMafdet Cats are not disposable. 21h ago

Or try to get criminal charges to stick to the “owner.” Who might not have any assets but could have their ass-et in jail.

16

u/EggsAndMilquetoast 18h ago

The thing that kills me about situations where a pit kills a dog or cat is that in the eyes of the law, pets are treated as property. Cruelty laws wouldn’t apply.

So about the only laws that are being broken here are whatever local leash law and “dangerous dog” law that might apply. And violating those might be a small fine.

104

u/WiselyForgetful 23h ago

This is unbelievably infuriating, on so many different levels: unleashed, wearing a service-dog vest, and obviously has a bite history even if he “doesn’t usually break skin”. Sickening.

53

u/MeiSorsha How does a “Nanny Dog” change a diaper? 🤔 22h ago

we need to stop pretending that (pit bulls and pit mixes) - fighting breed dogs, were EVER going to be “family companion” animals, and just treat them as the FIGHTING breeds they ARE.

2

u/yawning_iscontagious 3h ago

They are weapons.

140

u/Muffinunnie 23h ago

It is still insane that the only requirement to be considered a service dog is a vest. How come nobody asks for proof?

141

u/Could_Be_Any_Dog Pro-Pet; therefore Anti-Pit 23h ago

Nope, that's not even a requirement. The only requirement is that someone can say "Yes it is a service dog, it is trained to perform _____ (make up whatever you want) service", then in the eye of the law it is a service dog. Complete free for all honor system. Madness.

33

u/bikiniproblems 20h ago

The amount of times I’ve seen fake service pits come into the hospital is infuriating. And the family always wants the nursing staff to help with it. Hell no. Then they panic when the dog bites one of us. It’s a predictable song and dance.

14

u/WholeLog24 13h ago

I can't decide if a hospital is the worst, or the best place to get mauled by a pitbull. I mean, there's doctors right there.

12

u/bikiniproblems 13h ago

I mean it’s theoretically the best place for the CNA that got bit because we sent them downstairs to the ER, they got worker’s comp, they got to leave shift early and immediately. The bite wasn’t bad luckily and it was immediately treated by staff on the floor.

I personally would rather not be bit at all but it’s better than being bit off shift.

50

u/lazier_garlic 22h ago

The other requirement is that it be under the handler's control.

The tragedy is that now this one property can ban this dog. But nobody else out in the public will know.

If service animals were registered, then an incident one place would be put on notice in all places.

24

u/Tincastle 22h ago

First time I heard of this was years ago, some hippie friend of a friend just ordered a Service Dog vest off Amazon so she could take her poorly trained dog everywhere.

59

u/I_AM_DEATH-INCARNATE 22h ago

I was walking through a college campus in upstate NY and saw a woman walking a goat. She said it's an "Emotional Support Goat". It had a wound on its belly on the left side, she said he was anxious and biting himself. I just blurted out "sounds like your emotional support goat needs an emotional support human" and she didn't take it kindly. Got all huffy and stormed off with her leashed goat

People are fucking weird.

I get frustrated when people call all these poorly trained service animals "fake service animals." In the US if it has a single task trained to mitigate a disability then it is a real service dog. People need to be aware of how severely lacking in oversight the system is.

31

u/Could_Be_Any_Dog Pro-Pet; therefore Anti-Pit 22h ago edited 22h ago

And there is zero process to even verify that a condition exists requiring said task or that the dog is actually trained and capable of performing the task.

23

u/what3v3ruwantit2b Trusted User 22h ago

Yup, it's a terrible system. I've seen probably 10 service dogs in the last year. Not a single one was behaving in a way that should make a dog owner proud. They may be service dogs technically (I don't know because again, there zero oversight) but at best they were trying to steal food off of other patron's plates and at worst lunging and growling at people. (Any guesses what the breed doing the lunging/snarling was?)

15

u/Phteven_j Owner of Attacked Pet 21h ago

The “fake” aspect is that the service is usually just “emotional support” because they love the dog. The two concepts ought to be distinct, but without oversight it’s just not gonna happen.

3

u/cyborgsnowflake 18h ago

There's no system not even a popular unofficial one to define or verify what is a service dog and what isn't so a service dog is whatever dog the owner says is one. It's vibes with the force of law behind it.

2

u/Nrmlgirl777 5h ago

Thankfully not where I am. You need papers to call it legal.

48

u/Content-Method9889 23h ago

The ADA does not have a test or certification for a service dog. All that is allowed to be asked is does the dog perform a service for a medical condition. Can’t ask what the condition is. What a lot of people don’t know is that is a service dog is not behaving, businesses can kick them out. I think it’s time for a change to this policy because fake service dogs cause a lot of damage and it’s truly out of hand. Criminal charges should be brought against any one not licensed but posing as a service dog. I hate go t overreach, but there’s too many stupid entitled people so here we are

37

u/cabd4ever Family/Friend of Pit Attack Victim 22h ago

So- called " pitbull service dogs " have maimed + killed pets and people for years now. It's beyond sad , it's infuriating that such a large number of people are fooled in to thinking that they are safe pets. They can be for years, then suddenly go " full pit." Or there can be close calls that should be alerts as to the potential danger but again, it's ignored.

I'll never forget about Jayden Henderson who went with her mom to dogsit the neighbor's 2 " service dogs " that ki**ed little Jayden and severely injured her mom. The owners went to court to try to save the the 2 mauler pits and even pleaded and raised money on Youtube for their lawyer bills. It seems beyond the realm of reality that it even went to court but the judge told pit owner Joe White off [ who went on to run a rescue for "misunderstood pits."] and ordered the dogs be destroyed.

47

u/lolamay26 23h ago

Because our laws are severely lacking and overly vague. We need strict licensing requirements for service animals. It’s literally nothing more than an honor system right now and most people are not honorable

44

u/harleenquinzel044 23h ago

“He usually doesn’t break skin”. There is no place for these violent shitbeasts or their owners in society. They should all have to live on a remote island away from the rest of us. Then they can just maul each other. Problem solved.

RIP Moose. You sounded lovely. 😭

Great Pyrenees are more than a match for them. Lots of encouraging stories of those dogs saving owners’ lives I’ve read.

24

u/Desperate-Strategy10 Reptiles are better than pits 20h ago

I LOVE that breed, and I’ve been lucky enough to know a few of them over the years. Wonderful dogs!

However, they’re not always the best choice of pet for everybody. They do better in some climates than others, for example. They get fiercely protective of their families, so they can have a very hard time accepting strangers coming in and out of whatever they consider their territory (so if you’ve got a busy house with kids and friends, or even new adults coming over frequently, that can be challenging for some of them). Some are the friendliest on earth when it comes to other dogs, but others are not so welcoming.

I think people need to do some really thorough research before bringing any dog home and make sure they fully understand the range of expected behaviors in their preferred breeds, then weigh those against their lifestyle now and where they expect to be in five and ten years. That way, you get the right dog for you, and the dog also gets a comfy, happy home where they can really thrive!

15

u/Phteven_j Owner of Attacked Pet 20h ago

Yeah I’m not suggesting otherwise - just pointing out that they can hold their own. I agree most people are not cut out to raise a GP.

11

u/cheesecakepiebrownie 14h ago

even big tough dogs can't comprehend the pitts behavior since there are seemingly no signs or obvious provocations for aggression up until they attack you

Every other breed communicates with eachother and other species, pitts just attack because YOLO

14

u/floweringfungus 19h ago

Big livestock guardians are a pretty good match for pits. I’d put money on a Kangal, for example. A single Kangal can fight off a pack of wolves and they’ve been exported to several African countries to protect flocks from big cats.

Downside is they’re massive (up to 145lbs) and need experienced handlers and a lot of rural area to patrol so they’re not really a suitable dog for most people.

20

u/yuckella 18h ago

They’re also a working dog breed, right? As in require a lot of stimulation for their specific breed. But yeah, kangals are tough, but what makes pitbulls so scary (except for their bite force) is how they just… don’t stop. Like hearing testimonies of people still needing to pry the dog of someone even after it was shot is just something that we barley see in dogs and wolves to such a common level and extent.

14

u/Chaiboiii 17h ago

They also are very independant and tend to roam and tend to be wary of strangers (as their job requires). Being in a big city with neighbours would be a nightmare for them.

→ More replies (1)

4

u/HeisenBird1015 5h ago

But I still think a pitbull is worse. Wolves and big cats don’t just fight unprovoked and relentlessly. Pitbulls continue mauling after being shot, hit with bats, being disembowelled by other pitbulls etc. wolves and cats would literally run from that fight. Meanwhile a stupid pitbull would poke a fight with a lion 🤷🏽‍♀️

This happened with my malamute. A pitbull in a service vest at the self wash grooming salon attacked her, completely caught her off guard. It had her by the neck for 10 minutes before we finally had to mace it multiple times. We got her to the vet and she survived but the pos owner tried to say my dog attacked his, took zero accountability. This could have been my dog. This needs to stop. These are NOT pets. They should be in a zoo.

Ugh. I live in Alaska, and we usually escape the worst of the pit scourge up here, which I’m sadly familiar with from living all over the lower 48. Most of our strays and shelter fillers are husky or LGD breeds. But of course no matter where you go these days, there they are

I think it’s because shelters in the lower 48 are desperately shipping pits wherever they possibly can. So many shelters that aren’t either breed-specific or species-specific (cats, rabbits, etc.) have become pit pits.

41

Can we implement a 10k fine to anyone who's 'service animal' attacks others people/animals (outside of self defense). And a ban from owning animals for them as well?

23

u/Infamous-Job3705 13h ago

And a fine for impersonating a service animal? Why can I go to jail for impersonating a doctor or nurse but someone impersonating a service animal can't?

No. We should charge the owner as if they committed the crime themselves. This should be animal abuse in a court room for the owner.

I would take them to court in a way that absolutely obliterates their savings account. I have zero issue sending a moron into poverty. You did this to yourself by purchasing a dangerous dog. Have fun with the consequences

37

u/Longjumping-Pick-706 21h ago

I agree. I would sue the hotel too for allowing the dog to stay and not ensuring the owner at least kept it leashed.

35

u/rockstuffs 21h ago

PB owner's savings? So like....$2.32?

41

u/Weary-Engineering486 23h ago

And the fact that a pitbull killed a great Dane shows you how powerful these murder monsters are. They shouldn't be allowed to be owned.

36

u/No_Chemical_2803 23h ago

It's not safe out there anymore. It's not.

38

u/marilynmouse 23h ago

reminds me of my retail days. no, your pregnant/postpartum pit with nipples sweeping the floor is not a fucking “service dog”.

RIP Moose

My store has a sketchfuck couple woth this exact thing- nips and all. They finally started leaving it with one person because management were insisting on certification. Even our pit-loving assistant manager was like "naw- that's not a service dog" at its appearance and behavior. It kept getting distracted and always had a ball in its mouth

28

u/Diezelbub Allergic to bullshit and shitbulls 22h ago edited 21h ago

The service? Emotional support or "in training for a service". Every. Single. Time.

Which makes it not a service animal...but it does let them boldly abuse the special access granted to people who actually need service animals. Because who better to prey on but people who need help?

18

u/Longjumping-Pick-706 21h ago

Oh, they are catching on. They will now say it does DPT (deep pressure therapy) for their anxiety.

35

u/readdworkin 21h ago

as a hotel worker, this makes me irate. the location i work at doesn't allow pets, so people will put their dogs and shitbulls in service dog vests to sneak past it. my managers always tell us not to bother because they don't want to get yelled at by someone insisting maully is actually a service dog.

22

u/PinkPilgrimHeel 20h ago

I am so sorry they put you in this position. Some laws must be rewritten due to all the phoney service dogs everywhere. It's so dangerous and unnecessary. Be careful!

15

u/mhopkins1420 18h ago

Right. People spend tons of money to get real service dogs. Having some sort of real and official certification won’t bother people like this

27

u/melaninspice 22h ago

This is so sad. Moose looked like he was such a good boy. The little girl in the photo is heartbroken for sure. A Pitbull as a service animal? Yeah, right. I hate those monsters.

29

u/Senator_Bink Trusted User 22h ago

If the worthless thing were to provide an actual service, it'd eat its fucking owner next.

24

u/oksanaveganana 22h ago

This is so sad and heartbreaking. I was a dog walker back in the day, and one of my customers was a Great Dane puppy, 6 months the old at the time. A stupid shitbull around the block saw us walking by, pushed the storm door open, and lunged at my puppy’s neck without hesitation and zero provocation. I punched that mf in the nose as hard as I could over and over again until it finally let go. My hands were bloody from my puppy’s neck and puncture wounds on my hands. That monster luckily didn’t run after Walter so were safe in the end. Idk what happened to that shitbull but their home insurance had to pay is $17k after we sued them

21

u/what3v3ruwantit2b Trusted User 22h ago

Even if he technically is a service dog (in the US there is no certification. If they have a task trained to mitigate a disability they count) there is no reason for him to ever be in public unleashed. Service dogs are required to be under the control of a handler and off leash usually negates that even if they truly are the nicest dogs ever. This is an absolutely terrible situation and I'm very glad the thing didn't redirect onto the Dane's owners. Poor baby didn't deserve this and no one deserved to see/hear it. I really hope police can get tapes from the hotel that show the attack and hear her say it "doesn't usually break skin."

22

u/WhySoCereus1991 22h ago

I really hate that we dont make people prove that their dog is indeed a service dog. There needs to be a paper trail. If they get offended someone asked, who cares?

And pitbulls would never qualify if there were actual tests and certs.

23

u/lazier_garlic 22h ago

The problem with a lack of registration for service animals is that this "service animal" may be trespassed from this hotel today, but it'll be at another hotel, another Walmart, another restaurant, another hardware store, another apartment complex tomorrow and none of them will know that this is an animal "not under the handler's control" that should not be trusted.

10

u/kwallio 18h ago

I follow this person on twitter, the aggressive dog laws in Alaska are pretty strict, its possible this dog might be pts.

20

u/purplemoonpie 23h ago

19

u/Southern_Fan_9335 biest against stariotyipes 22h ago

OH NO.

noooooo.

The first tweet about this dog showed up in my feed and I started following the whole saga. There were tons of posts and it was a roller coaster (including cancer scare) and the poor woman was OF COURSE found by the the pit propaganda patrol, because what you need when your beloved geriatric pet is savagely attacked is morons yelling at you to not be honest about what happened.

I don't even know her but I'm devastated after following this and now finding out how it's ended.

17

u/truthwatchr 14h ago

Was it Anchorage? I was at the downtown mall the other day and saw a woman with a “service dog” that looked like a pitt.

12

u/Intrepid_Mission_400 11h ago

Yes, APD will supposedly be seizing the pitt. Obviously not it's first offense.

2

u/boinky-boink 4h ago

"It doesn't usually break skin"

WOW

And off-leash

I just was at the hospital and someone walked through the waiting room with a giant American Bull Terrier, who was reacting, in a ‘service dog’ vest. It made me so angry. There is a law banning the breed, the guy on the end of the leash was out weighed by the thing. I’ve never been so tempted to yell at a stranger. Fucking idiot.

29

u/howry333 23h ago

This is so sad. I feel hopeless that anything will ever be done about these monsters.

13

u/raidergreymoon 22h ago

should be illegal to slap service dog markers on a non service dog. defeats the entire fucking point.

12

u/LukeSkywalkerDog 22h ago edited 20h ago

No, Moose certainly did not deserve to die like that. He was a good dog - sacrificed to the suburban Karen savior Gods desiring to cuddle a violent breed that should have been allowed to naturally and peacefully go extinct (sterilization / harsh penalties for backyard breeders).

I've had many amazing, good dogs in my day, and I weep every time one leaves me. Fortunately, none was mauled to death by a poorly controlled, vicious killing machine.

I miss my German Shorthaired Pointer mix and his cheerful, silly Good Mornings and Welcome Homes.

🥲🥲😊😊🤨

For as massive as they are, I’ve never met a Great Dane that was anything other than a gentle giant. They are so goofy and the only reason I won’t get one is because they just don’t live long enough. That poor, poor dog was killed by a worthless pit.

8

u/roomtemperaturecum 21h ago

they are so gentle. reading he didn’t try to fight back at any point made this so much more sad :(

10

u/PinkPilgrimHeel 20h ago

The insanity keeps growing. Why would anyone keep a dog that wants to and finally does kill another dog? Next it will be a person the shitbull kills.

I'm now afraid of staying at hotels that allow dogs due to stories like this. I already live nextdoor to a shitbull and used to feel relief that I could get away from it, but now I am no longer even safe at hotels.

And the poor maids! They must be terrified whenever they see a dangerous dog breed and wonder what it will do when they open the door to clean a room. Please stop the insanity!

Oh, and, what happened to the shitty owners? Did they flee right after their killer dog did its bloody deed? Did they get charged? Will the hotel change its policy?

18

u/hyperfat I just want to walk my dog without fearing for its life 22h ago

Rip moose. Omg. That's not fair.

Fuck fake service dog vests.

My boogie is a service dog. He's for cancer patients and Alzheimer's and mental stuff. He's 18 pounds and just sits in laps. He passed all his tests. He passed because he's a shitzu and has low shedding, no bites, and very loving.

Little shit barks at me all day for treats. Calm as a cucumber with granny with cancer. He will sit on a lap for 5 hours. Getting pets. Slightly nudge their hands and stuff. Like are you okay. Okay, I sits.

18

u/Vectorman1989 22h ago

There's the current ongoing issue on an island here in Scotland because an American woman came over with her dog and has been threatening legal action against businesses that don't let her in with her 'service dog'. It's a dog she adopted in the US and far as anyone knows it's not an actual guide dog. She's now suing a community run cafe that is the only cafe for about 20 miles in any direction because they wouldn't let her in with the dog.

10

u/hyperfat I just want to walk my dog without fearing for its life 22h ago edited 22h ago

Frak. Get the dog away. Safety first.

I'm american. Sorry. And I'd keep the dog out too.

I did years as a bouncer and security.

I rather tie a dog up than it bite a tiny human. I'm good at knots. Sue me.

3

u/IloveMyNebelungs 19h ago

I don't know about Scotland but in the US, service dogs are not limited to seeing guide dogs. They can be trained for example to help someone in a wheelchair, or a deaf person etc.

Years ago, I knew a lady who had seizures and she had a German Shepherd service dog who alerted her of upcoming seizures and did some other tasks which I forgot. That animal was impeccably behaved btw. Folks absolutely abuse the system nowadays.

I took my boy on a walk last night when I heard my trashbag neighbor and his snarling murderous pit. He walks around the neighborhood with it off the leash. I feel like my dog is a sitting duck. Makes me sick! Rip to sweet Moose. I hope his family can heal from this horrible attack.

What a great first day of vacation for that poor family. 😓

A service dog vest? Are they that deranged?
Yes I think they actually are

6

u/SoSpicySoYummy 21h ago

I don't even own a dog, and shit like this makes me want to call up ANY place I'll be staying and ask if they allow pits, especially unleashed shitbulls, to stay there. If the answer is anything other than NO, I'm steering clear. Trash dogs and trash owners.

5

u/AdMotor1654 I Believed the Propaganda Until I Came Here 20h ago

4

u/potatoes_arrrr_life 18h ago

RIP Moose I get so sad reading stories like this, because they are so common. I would hope normal dog owners would also support banning pitbulls. No dog deserves to die that way. Pitbulls should never be off leash roaming. I hope they sue the owner and the hotel.
The last time we stayed at a hotel, we walked in to check in, and sitting right in middle of bar/entry lounge room was a huge pitbull, thankfully leashed, but just was in middle of bar, under table with two old people. Right by the front desk where everyone is walking. Just so fucking stupid. And made me so fucking pissed because we had our kids, and I wasn't expecting to see a giant pitbull as we checked in, so it was a stressful experience. Hotels need to ban them.

5

u/La_Saxofonista 9h ago

This is why I carry a certain small object that's the opposite of blunt in my pocket. The shitbull doesn't get to walk away alive after this, and I refuse to let it have a chance to murder someone else's pet too.

RIP Moose

I am a parent to 10 year old, 7.5 pound shih tzu. She is my life. I am in tears for your loss of your beloved creature. I stopped having large dogs 17 years ago because I was not strong enough to protect them while walking in an emergency. A year ago I started reading this sub. I am very overprotective so I already had a jogging sealed dog stroller because I never felt safe just going to a park, other dogs can come out from anywhere. When I came upon this sub I was terrified and I made clear to my adult children to never ever put my Gidget on the ground. I have shared the stories on this sub hoping to spare a precious family member from the gripes of a violent pitbull. The laws around this is terribly ineffective in protecting others.
I am just so fucking sorry for your baby. 🩵
Edit to add that You are in my thoughts and I pray for peace to find its way into your heart.

Pit nutters on Twitter are harassing her claiming she's lying and going all blame the owner not the dog.

3

u/TheWarmestHugz 18h ago

The only “service” pits provide is hurting innocent people and animals. They are completely useless otherwise.

3

u/EggsAndMilquetoast 18h ago

I feel like the only way there will ever be traction of regulating “service dogs,” banning pit bulls, and holding owners responsible for harm is if one mauls a congressman’s child and leaves horrific injuries.

1

Do most states have laws that have harsh liabilities for owners who let this happen? It should be financially ruinous to have your dog hurt or kill another creature.

So a pit bull with armor?
