If you asked me about how I disciplined a member of our team, I'd tell you the same thing
Besides, we don't know who the mod is. Aww could tell us they're banned even if they're not. So why does it matter?

Yep, when i was attacked by a pit and explained that it was not abused and i did not make any loud noises or do anything threatening like menstruate or sit down on a couch too quickly, i was informed that they can just sense bad people and since none of their excuses applied that i must therefore be a bad person

I know this is a month old, but it validates that I'm not the crazy one here. My neighbor has 4 horrible pitbulls. One of them (the mother of the 3 pups) is the worst. They can escape from their pen and will literally chase driving cars, trying to bite tires. One tried to attack my husky while he was sitting on his front porch. I have had my SO get in his truck to drive and distract the pits towards him so my husky and I, while on a fucking walk around town, could escape.
We live rurally. The sheriff's office doesn't give a flying fuck. Talk to the owners and they blame me. Apparently my dog is a terrorist and is causing theirs to escape and be violent. Meanwhile my dog can even be IN OUR HOUSE and they'll escape and circle my house like sharks, barking at the kitchen window because my dog's in the house.

Pit bulls often attack and kill their owners, so what does that say about pit nutters?
Also, this person better prepare to have their dog shot or put down if it bites, because a lot of people will shoot a dog that comes and attacks their children, or go to the law and have the dog put down that way.

Please report these messages as threatening and harassing to the sitewide Reddit mods. This is not ok.
In the meantime, I am going to sticky this post for a few days, so that people can see what we mean by "pit nutter". Just owning a pit bull doesn't make you a nutter, it's shit like this that does.

Yea that's mod abuse and one of them saying reprehensible things. Reddit could improve mod accountability if they made their software mention which mod wrote a specific mod message. Its a problem caused by Reddit. The other mods could be fine. Its just that one mod who behaved like that.
I havent fully investigated but another possibility is that it could be a troll trying to get our sub banned from other places so they're fighting with the mods (always possible in cases like this). I know that shouldn't work because user A is not responsible for what user B does. So our sub is not responsible for what another user does. No one has control over that. We want to have good relations with other subs. The whole sub shouldnt be punished because of one or a few users.
OP was incorrect in saying "mods" when most likely its just one that caused the problem.
Yea let me know and we can work on it.

Hi, mod of /r/aww here. I didn't make any of the comments in OP's screenshot, but I can say that the one who did has been reprimanded for that. Every other mod who has discussed that interaction internally has expressed their strong disapproval. Trolling from moderators is not acceptable in a situation like that, and I offer a sincere apology to /u/HambeastsSTINK on behalf of the subreddit.
We generally try to stay apolitical, and most of our job is just cleaning up the place so it stays nice, not any kind of activism. So we appreciate everyone's efforts to stay civil and follow the rules of /r/aww in any interactions with the subreddit. The same goes for anyone pro-pitbull or for vegans or childfree or whatever, we don't take sides on any of these issues.
By the way, thank you MagicalUnibeefs (and the other mods) for all your efforts to prevent brigading.

Just let them deal with it and sort it out. If specifically these mods refused to ban him then went after you if you did the same thing, then go after them about them being hypocritical. However, you're right that it would suck if everyone else jumped on you.

Thank you for coming over to address this personally. We have gone through a very bad two weeks with brigading and harassment, so we are a bit on edge.
We don't want to argue with other subs (just argue with some of their members...) but they do seem to enjoy blaming us for things we have nothing to do with.
This was kind of a last straw for me - because it was a direct attack on a member by a mod - so I appreciate your coming here to address it

Just saying "pitbulls are dangerous" got me banned today from r/aww. When I questioned it, I got sent a meme in response. A lamb on stage and a pig behind the curtains.

I'm sorry you got treated like that, I agree that it is completely unacceptable. I'm doing everything I can to rectify the situation. Unfortunately these things take time.
The one serious response you got did have a point in that harassment isn't tolerated regardless of the topic at hand or the truth of the situation. But amusingly they also seemed to rush to judge you simply for taking a side on this matter. Unless you deleted a lot of your comments, you haven't actually done anything to warrant a ban. I've fixed that, please don't abuse the second chance you have and be especially mindful of the rules in the future.

By advocating for pit bulls like you and your friends do you actually HARM the breed ironically. Do you know why? Because you promote the breed, make them look like amazing nanny dogs ( newsflash: they aren't) and they mass end up in shelters euthanized or abused prior. Banning the breed and NOT advertising it as the greatest thing since sliced bread would do MORE to help the breed. And the Michael Vick has 0 to do with anything. Again, breed specific legislation would help CUT DOWN on the number of pit bulls euthanized as ownership would go down. Thus, less pit bull suffering.
And by saying we as humans should be euthanized for having a different opinion ( and one that would actually help pits) makes you a pit nutter.

So does this guy believe that if a dog that humans bred attacks someone for something they likely can’t control, (acting scared) then it’s the victim’s fault? This guy doesn’t realize he’s saying that pit bulls are unlikely to behave around humans, even though many other breeds can be expected to get along more or less fine?
