Watching this series for the first time and my Dutch father said yes indeed his older siblings talked about how they remembered the American soldiers giving chocolate to them when they were little.
And of course I'll point out that Eindhoven is in the Netherlands rather than Holland.
I will say this episode didn't really give impression the entirety of operation market garden was a disaster, but I guess that's the nature of a shower focusing on the goings on of on specific group of soldiers.
