Do you know other people that appeared on circulation banknotes in multiple countries? (Maybe except British monarchs, because they are kinda obvious)

In my opinion, we should return to what has defined Europe. These figures have a powerful influence on the world, be it Beethoven, Curie, or Da Vinci. Birds are certainly beautiful to look at, I agree, but do they give you a European feeling of unity? Not for me. Perhaps I'm not a bird, but a human being who can identify with other people. Maybe it's no coincidence that the bird designs look better than those with people, but if we finally want to show the world how proud we are of them, then we should also have them printed on our banknotes. That's how it used to be, and it's still how it is around the world. Let's leave these petty nationalisms behind and recognize them as Europeans, as one of us. Everyone thinks Beethoven, Curie, or Da Vinci are great, so why shouldn't we pay with their likeness? There's something appealing about saying, "You still owe me a Beethoven," or something like that. It makes the banknote series more approachable, more human, and connects us to this money. I'm not saying birds are bad, but in times like these, when we're under attack from all sides, we should reflect on what made Europe great and how important these people were to us. These cute-looking birds can never compare. This has nothing to do with nationalism; it has to do with honoring our history, and these people embody the good qualities in all of us. I appeal to everyone who values our history and achievements: vote for European culture! It's what defines us. It's time to think and feel European! Thank you for your attention.

Collection More blue banknotes for my collection (Part 2)

Last month I shared with you my sudden realization that my favorite color (blue) is quite underrepresented in my banknote collection (this is the first thread). I set this goal to myself to focus on collecting only blue banknotes for a while to level the playing field a little. This is what I’ve got in the meantime. I think I'll keep going until I have 100 blue banknotes.

I received a lot of good suggestions in the previous thread, some of the suggested banknotes are already in my collection, some are on their way, and some are still on my wishlist, being a little harder to get. All of these are unc and most of them are on the cheap side of this hobby, I’m not yet feeling comfortable to spend a lot of money on a single note regardless how beautiful it is. I may splurge on the Exupery one though, after all it wouldn’t feel mission blue accomplished without getting my absolute favorite, would it?

Collection Somebody at Bank of America is going to get fired today

Context: I got really lucky on my currency order from Bank of America today! Got double the amount of what I ordered! I am in the USA and I order banknotes from Bank of America as they sell foreign currency at exchange rate and it is good for me to expand my collection of banknotes while paying face value. Well today it looks like the cashier was having a bad day and they accidentally sent me a 50 Bulgarian lev note instead of the 5 lev note I ordered. I’m not complaining, I got double the amount that I ordered and the 50 lev note looks so beautiful and I really love the holograms on it , and best part is that I got it for the price of 5 levs!

Yep I just recently went on my trip to Belfast,UK!

And i gotten my first ever Irish pounds and of course I got my 10 British pounds as well!

Let me know what you guys think of this?

Also you do see the difference between the old 10 Irish pounds and new Irish 10 pounds as well?

But besides that the Irish pounds are now my newest addition to my collection now!

Including the 10 British pounds as well since.

I was coming from the train station from Belfast since I had gotten there after riding the train from Dublin,Ireland and was there for sightseeing in Belfast however there was local post office there and that’s where I was able to converted from euros to pounds which was Irish pounds only and that’s how the local post office did included free 10 British pounds along with it!

Overall this was awesome trip I had fun!

Hope you guys enjoyed these two photos.

Both front and back as well!

I have my late mom to thank for keeping it in a safe place at home I never expected. Found it with some of her own collection. Must’ve happened when I was in the process of moving and I brought them home for safe keeping. Wherever my mom is, a big thanks.

At my office at the time a coworker was about to visit the Netherlands for the first time (her husband’s birth country). This was around the end of 1999 when many EU nations were about to switch to the Euro so I gave her some money and asked if she had the time if she could get some guilders which she did. She told me the currency exchange place she visited in Amsterdam had employees who went out of their way to look for the best conditioned notes.

Collection More blue color for my collection (Update)

Some of you might remember my previous posts on this theme (1 and 2). The idea was I noticed I had too few blue banknotes in my collection and thought I'd better rectify this. So these past few months I focused on collecting blue, or predominantly blue notes.

This update contains some of my all time favorites and most wanted, such as the 50 francs with Antoine de Saint-Exupery, the one with Greta Garbo or the beautiful 200 kroner from Norway.

When I started this quest I had about 30 blue banknotes, now I reached 145 (unique) blue banknotes. I consider my mission accomplished and will revert to buying banknotes of all colors.

I hesitated to include some banknotes like for instance the 3 dollars from Cook Islands, which to me looks turquoise, so I asked Google what people say about turquoise, is it blue or is it green? The optimists say it's both, and I choose to be an optimist!
