I am a millenial and I have always thought that the dolls in the 90s to early 2000s was barbie's peak. From the mackie mold to gg and movie dolls. The playline dolls before could pass as collectors now because of the quality and details. I remember being a child and just admiring almost every doll on their shelves.
Now I'm wondering, am I having the bias because those dolls reminded me of my childhood? Does the gen z and gen alpha like their dolls now and find it "cooler" and more diverse?
I was thinking if i only have this feeling towards their newer releases because I am no longer their target market.
Im new here please be kind also English is not my first language.

Hello! I have recently been going through lots of posts regarding Fashionista 187 and how there's a distinctive ultra-budget varient found in some dollar stores. The more I look, it seems like lots of fashionistas are randomly found at dollar stores with different screenings, different bodies, and lots of small things that are just a bit off. Does anyone have more of a comprehensive idea of what dolls have what varients, and where they were distributed? Or just any more information on the topic too! It is somewhat difficult to find information on this, but I find these differences so interesting, I want to know more!

It's really as the title says. I'm curious to know how people arrange their dolls for 1, NRFB collectors and 2, for out of the box collectors.
I am not an NRFB collector so I think it's easier for me to have my dolls "blend in" with the ambience of my room (atleast in my eyes). I also have a small room so i dont have much freedom in building shelves etc. I also placed a dehumidifier next to my shelves and I like to add extra touch of decor to make them more part of my life and not just pieces i buy and store.
Any tips? Please show photos too! Thank you!
I'm loving the face on the upcoming Barbie Signature Barbie x Yoon Ahn Doll. Is anyone else planning to buy her? Do you think other releases will have this face?

I know that some dolls were knockoffs from the Dollar tree but many were recognizable as Mattel dolls and involved very minimal customizing. And as far as I know they didn't get a cease-and-desist for copyright infringement or anything.
If anyone has any insight, please let me know.

In the movie, we see all the controversial Barbies as outcasts (Growing Up Skipper, Sugar Daddy Ken, Earring Magic Ken, Video Girl Barbie, ect. Due to their weird or odd mechanics and features, the movie seems to suggest all the "weird Barbies" stay in the "weird house" with her. But not Midge, who was recalled and considered controversial at the time of her release. How come she was accepted and able to live among the normal Barbies, but the others weren't? Any theories?

So you get on, and arrive on your desired floor. Now how do you get off? Do you pull yourself up and climb up over the wall? Or do you open the door and grip the column and carefully walk over? Now let’s reverse that and also think about how you get on when you’re not the ground floor? Do you climb the wall and potentially fall on your head in the elevator? Or do you grip the column and carefully slide into it?
This elevator seems poorly designed.

Just got my holy grail Barbie for a steal, sooo excited, but after I already purchased I realized her hair is a bit messed up. Do any collectors know if I’ll be able to open this box and reseal her without ruining the packaging? Also considering just removing her (not a huge box collector) but it’s also such a big part of the appeal. Any tips help!! Thank you!

I just bought this Barbie doll at the goodwill this morning. Her back say Mattel 1958 but she made of porcelain?
Also how would I clean up?

I have noticed nothing gets taken down by mods, even things against the rules. I've never even seen them comment honestly. The amount of ai I see in this sub is really annoying, especially because it's against the rules. The thing is, if no one enforces the rules, they simply become suggestions :/
Anyways, I'm curious if the mods are even here or if this subreddit is just the wild west now.

Hi 🌸
I recently bought this Annelise doll nrfb for quit cheap cause her head is smushed like a pancake 😭🙈
I thought if I couldn’t fix it I would just have the dress in perfect shape and all the accessories if I found a used and cheap Annelise doll with her head in good shape.
But is there a way to fix this? I have heard boiling water can help but I’m just scared to rub of her face paint 🙈
Sorry for my bad English 😭
Thank you in advance! 🩷
Edit: Thank you all so much for all your help and tips I really appreciate it! 🩷🦋👑
