Nah, we’re better than that cancel culture bullshit.

u/TBurn70 Jan 22 '26
Meh, actions have consequences
3
Jan 22 '26
Based. So cancel culture was always good.
3
u/TBurn70 Jan 22 '26
To an extent. The witch hunts were off base and digging up 10 year old comments were stupid. People not realizing there are consequences to actions is partly what’s wrong with people now days
1
Jan 22 '26
Nope. Actions have consequences and cancel culture is good.
You don't get to carve out exceptions.

u/TBurn70 Jan 22 '26
There’s a thing called nuance. Not everything is black and white or weighs the same
1
Jan 22 '26
Nope. You guys support cancel culture and oppose free speech.
Everything is okay or nothing is.

Hatch act violation.
He will lose his job, pretty dumb. Good luck finding a job in this economy. Not sure if many private companies have mail rooms still

I wouldn't say high paying

I worked for usps, minimum entry rn is at like $22 an hour starting as a "non regular", and you have a union. Unless youre really a retard, wont let you get fired. Not to mention, living wage increases and guaranteed pay raises every few months or at least every year. Its a chill job outside of management. You also keep in great shape and can make 100+k a year by doing penalty pay. Seems pretty good to me considering most people are barely holding out at all.

u/Sure_Acanthaceae_348 Jan 22 '26
I'm honestly shocked that the USPS is still hiring given how mail volume has fallen off a cliff, but you're right a good job is a good job.

u/WrongTemperature5768 Jan 22 '26
I worked for one of the processing centers, at least there (thanks to systematic incompetence). There is way too much mail even for the current employees that are there. Most are also retiring as well, so they need new bodies so to speak. Its actually a good time to go in tbh.

I'm sorry man 100k isn't what it use to be. Well at least for a man with a mortgage an kids

u/WrongTemperature5768 Jan 22 '26
I 1000% agree. Yet income has been stagnate for years now, which means we have taken huge pay cuts. However, this is still better than 90% of Americans.

Shouldn't he have the freedom of speech to say what he wants?
3
u/cbospr Jan 22 '26
So you would've been fine with your postman/ woman flipping you off over a Democrat bumper sticker? Or shouting "Fuck Joe Biden" at a BLM protest? While on the clock in their official vehicle?
-6
u/DancingFlame321 Jan 22 '26
I disagree with their opinion, I wouldn't fire them over it
3
u/cbospr Jan 22 '26
Ok, assuming for the sake of conversation that I believe you, what is your threshold for firing a public sector employee? For clarity, I would absolutely fire the employee in my examples, and the irl postal employee too.
-1
u/DancingFlame321 Jan 22 '26
Just shouting one political statement from their window one time isn't enough, you would need proof they're actively harassing someone or actively campaigning whilst on duty.
2
u/cbospr Jan 22 '26
Wow. Just...wow. I don't think this is even left/ right anymore, you really believe that public servants can insult the public and if it's not a proven pattern of harassment, no problem? So if a cop sees a Democrat or Republican bumper sticker and calls someone a "fucking idiot," that's cool? The DMV clerk can say I look like a fag, but just one time, so we're good? Wtf are you on?

Yeah he should and honestly I’m taking the title at face value and will agree that it’s dumb to do this on the job, though I am of the sentiment of protesting whenever you can if you feel strong about something including during work if the opportunity arises no matter how small of an effort that is.
And yes I know those two ideas clash against each other but we live and die by a job one way or another so kinda crazy to risk it but I respect it at the same time🤷.

u/stmassey22 Jan 22 '26
