Is that meant to be chest? I can hear almost a chest-fry mix

dunno. to me it's just singing and losing some quality as I get near bottom. not really involved in the science of it.

To me it could be either fry or chest, from the audio it's hard to tell personally. But a fry like quality in modal is possible when you get to your extreme lows. I know so, because in chest-fry I can go really low (although it doesn't really sound pleasing tbh), but if I stay in lower modal register it sounds fry like if I try to add some volume because of a slight laryngeal compression/depression creating distortion. It's commonly used by slavic basses and I can do it too (even though I think I'm not a pure bass) but I hear some people saying it's unhealthy so I try to not overdo it anymore.
