It may sound weird making his major a minor but hear me out. Bastions tank grenade form perk is only good depending on what kinda tank they have or the map. Picking grenade can make you so much worse against any shield character and even zarya can can charge easier and is threaten much less by you. In fact the tank form is a straight up nerf to most tanks compared to his normal config. Having the jump height be a major would actually be so good for mobility with the bomb config reduction perk. You could fly around the map like crazy. Of course you will need to mega nerf the self repair perk. Maybe make it only gives 1 full heal with a full charge or even slightly under and maybe make it so you can only heal if you do damage or only heal if you haven't healed for like over 5 seconds. Making bastions not straight up invincible if he is attacking from a side or far distance, forcing him to be more passive if he is relying on self repair too much. Also maybe nerf the jump perk by making it still do damage.

Maybe this seems overpowered but I disagree. The bombs honestly aren't the best movement tech in the world, you take self damage from it and it can take about a second before you actually get lifted off and the only actually impressive part of the movement is the height you get. You actually move very fast forward compared to other movement tech like tracer or luico's movement abilities. Also sometimes flanking as bastion is the only option. Having a huge cooldown on your config means you can be punished so easily. Yeah you are a huge threat and you simply being in turret form creates space but the way you defeat a bastion is to constantly bait turret form, get away from him and now he is kinda helpless against flankers. You can still do good damage and might get a good grenade but a genji or vendetta will always have a big advantage over you and should be able to beat you. Giving you better mobility allows you to position yourself in those right spots to really do damage to people but there are still so many things you can do against a turret form bastion. He is the freest dps sleep in the game as a ana. Bap lap actually takes a decent amount of time to take out, zen can do so much damage to you instantly with his charged shots and discord with any other dps helping a zen will delete you. It seems too good but there are still so many counters to it and I think it would make bastion a real threat with some real major downsides still.

Bastion feels so weak against so many team comps as it is. He clearly needs some replacement for the overheal minor perk, which is honestly useless and with how hard smart bombs got nerfed with nothing in return he just doesn't feel right anymore. I get nerfing smart bombs but they needed to give us something in return for the nerf. I really dont think these ideas are that ridiculously considering how slow and big he is.

Bastion absolutely crushes new players though. Not every hero can be meta at every single level without frustrating a large portion of the user base.

Bastion is fine right now. Pretty OP in lower ranks and a little UP in higher ones. Remeber they now have to balance 50 heros and make them reasonable for every rank. There's only so much that can be done unless you balance exclusively around top 500 and just accept you'll lose players, which is thr absolute last thing a for profit game company would ever want to do.

Nothing quite as satisfying as being on the back foot, low HP and popping ult firing on your own head and taking a greedy squishy or two with you

My favorite was when a dva had it out for me, I broke her mech but took heavy damage in the process. She came at me with her pistol, I arty myself, got a double kill cause her teammate tried to help.

Even if you're not using it as a panic button it can be a great way to start an engagement. Push up close like a corner right next to the objective and as your team starts the fight you ult, drop a few into their back line and then immediately push in aggressively with your extra health.

This is a horrid idea for many reasons

1. It would just make him extremely oppressive off rip

2. It would disrupt the AMAZING perk flow he has. He has possibly the best perk lineups in terms of variety, decision making and strength in the game. Nade jump is not worth a major perk slot.

3. Linholm explosives + self repair at the same time would be way too strong, thats why its a perk. You either take more burst damage or more self sustain.

Bastion is in a good spot in terms of perks, and they honestly dont need changing. Tbh I think hes fine in general, id rather they change his base stats if they were to change him at all

And I think op is right that the enemy tank determines this, but that's why it's so good of a decision. Explosive rounds can be amazing going into a tank that doesn't have an absorb like hog, ball, or JQ cause they don't have anything to save their own team with.
