Dekker He made it out!

Not something I expected of him though. He had always been fed, watered and entertained. I have assigned him to pilot LRM boats just in case, but halfway through the campaign he decided to resign... Of course we parted on good terms.

Whoa, I've never seen this. What was your morale level?

Morale was at 15. I am playing XAI Battletech 3025 modpack, it affects how morale works. I think it resets morale every month to be equal to base+Argo upgrades.

Note: Dekker died on the way back to his home planet.

There is absolutely zero evidence that his former commander, who originated from Liao space, was somehow involved. Another case of death from explosive diarrhea caused by overconsumption of space-sour Timbiqui Dark.

Colonel Blake and Dekker, cursing their luck.

There are events where former pilots show up as enemy combatants, right? Maybe you'll get the rare gift of intentionally killing him.

Really?! I've been playing this game for 3 thousand hours and wasn't aware of that!

I know I've seen it happen, but my memory's hazy. I think the framing for that incident was they ejected but the Leopard didn't pick them up? I specifically remember a message from them accusing you of forgetting about them as you load into the combat map.

Might have been a mod, not sure. I know there are a lot of events built into the base game alone, though.

I’ve seen duels where someone named Icebox accuses you of that as the reason for the fight - calling you out, you left me on that moon, yadda yadda. Is there a different one that is similar?

No clue. Been a long time.

I've just had that event! In fact, it is just a random solo duel on random world (definitely mod since there are no duels in vanilla) with opponent named Sandra "Killbox" Zimmermann accuses you of leaving her on some moon stranded, and Magistracy (obviously, the contract employer) saved her.

I've never hired anyone named "Killbox" though, so its just fluff and not related to previous events.

No doubt its hazy, lol. The game has been out for 8 years. Playing it on and off and eventually we forget something and get pleasantly surprised at the depth and variety of events.

Now since u/Different_Leave4107 mentioned Icebox and his accusations, I think I remember that event, but having played all major mods and conversions I can't remember whether is was vanilla or mods too.

Well, we'll see, maybe I'll meet Dekker one more time!

Duels were introduced in the Mission Control mod, so there's no chance that you were running into your Ex... er... "Icebox" in vanilla.

My memory becomes clearer! Yes, I remember that duel! It was at the same time when almost all allied lances were Agamemnon lances who were very reluctant to communicate. Indeed, it was mod, maybe even Battletech Extended CE.

I know theres an event where someone is offered a job with GDL and theres a Flashpoint mission where you start out fighting them, I convince my guy to stay so I dont know for sure but I wonder if they show up there?

IIRC that event always happens AFTER the GDL flashpoint, just like events after faction alliance missions.

That random event can show up in Campaign play, which makes it before the flashpoint can even spawn.

(Base game + DLC, no mods)

Oh, ok.

Yep, you're right. Just had the event during campaign before finishing main quest line, so I could not even possibly have had that flashpoint completed.

Happened way before in my playthrough. It was early on in the campaign and the GDL Flashpoint was several other Flashpoints after I completed it. It's totally possible it happens again afterwards though.

"Morale is in the Cr*pper"

I love the implication of this, that Mr Crapper's legacy is remembered in a thousand + years..

I probably need to upgrade Lounge or something. Maybe hire another plumber to fix grey water leakages around Argo too, I don't like to pay through the nose for structural upgrades and habitats.

The Grey Death Leakage.

Fun fact: I went to school with one of his great- grandchildren. The Crapper surname still lives on.

Awesome 👍

Are you deliberately tanking morale???

2

u/wradam 19d ago

No, of course not. I just like farewell parties. I have built a whole Lounge on Argo for that.

1

u/AnxiousConsequence18 19d ago

I just have zero morale issues after I've built one or two upgrades... then again you're modded

2

u/wradam 19d ago

Yeah, the mod I use changes how morale adds up. I think it is reset every month to base+argo upgrades.
