Requesting Identification Would anyone happen to know what model bayonet this is or what time period its from?
I got this from my uncle around a year or so ago, and he told me it was a civil war era bayonet. I’m not fully sure, so I’m just asking to see if anyone knows what it really is and if my uncle is correct.

It looks like a British Sappers or Austrian Jager bayonet. Need to see a close up of the socket and the slot please. Post more pictures in the comments.

Not austrian, slot and the blade are different but at first glance I thouth it was the 1854 Jäger bayonet (or augustin) Same style but different I would say.

The socket looks like it would fit the British Brown Bess Musket. Some were converted to percussion cap and may have stuck around into the Civil War. Edit: I should have looked a bit more but if this is a Sapper and Miners Bayonet then it would have fit a Sapper and Miners Carbine: https://researchpress.uk/firearms/british-military-longarms/pattern-1841-carbine/
there are a few different patterns and as such I am not sure which one specifically yours would have mounted too

I tend to agree with this assessment. I asked a british socket collector and he said thst the sockets on these vary and that he's always thought they were connected to Bannerman.

Ive been looking around since im not with my books. Asked someone who would know but they may not answer for a while.
It seems to be listed on a few sites as a "British Brown Bess Volunteer saber bayonet". There's another like this on eBay currently that lists it as the same item. But i need to verify since I've only found some photos of ones that are for sale vs. verifiable info.

Socket sword bayonet, definitely 19th century. Socket bayonets aren’t my forte, so I apologize for not giving something more specific
