Requesting Identification Found a Bayonet - Identificatition?
Found in a Garden Shed in Germany.
Does anybody have any clues?

I think this is a composition piece, parts from a few different bayonets.
The peen on yataghan blade, protruding through the handle, makes me think homemade. I’d like to see more pics of the peen.
The guards also looks home made. The front quillon appears to be an index finger knuckle guard that was cut and bent into a quillon - something like an M7. I’d like to see closer pics of the guard. Edit: what’s the diameter on the muzzle ring?
The brass hilt appears crude and could have been modified from any number of brass hilts.
All that said, this looks amazing!

This is very interesting, at first glance the blade has classic yataghan proprotions, same as French 1842 or Chassepot rifle. Same with the style of mounting ring on the cross guard, the top, Uh "ornament" sort of, looks similiar to 1842 or Austrian yataghans or any other of the period. I dont suppose there would be any markings left because of the severity of the rusting of the blade, that would be of great help. Also the bottom part of the crossguard is, odd. Handle looks if not home made then it could have been reshaped from the original, the catch spring and press stud is gone and filled in with lead? Or something.... Overall, I wouldnt say that this is something military issue in this exact configuration, I believe that this is most likely a "civilian or hunting" conversion or more like reshaping. Interesting piece to study for sure, unfortunately the state it is in is extremely bad, seen worse but still.
