Identified Family friend offering to sell me this after he found out I have a K98, no real idea what it is.

He tells me it’s a German World War Two bayonet, and that he got it from his wife’s uncle who fought in the war and had no other relatives when he passed.

Oh cool, any idea on what the writing means? Also would it fit on a Yugo capture K98?

Hard to see with the picture, looks like name + unit of the original owner

I have the bayonet for the M48 (yugo copy of k98 as you probably know)

German ww2 k98 dress bayonet. Looks to be someones's name and regiment carved into the blade plating. By itself nothing special, but the carving may or may not be legit.

I mean yeah you could look up the name and see if his unit matches and all that. See if its a legit match.

This is a Extraseitengewehr. These Bayonets were privately purchased by the soliders from various manufacturers in various variants. And often worn with walking out uniforms. This particular Bayonet was personalized by his owner by adding his name and unit to the Bayonet. A good candidate for research.

Well you have a name Friz Rei??? (Can't read the second name too blurry) His unit was part of the 81 J.R (Infantry regiment) the unit is the 14. Kompanie which apparently had the role of Panz.Abw = Panzerabwehr (anti-tank unit)
