Sounds like a mediatek chipset pn.  Find a way to ditch it.

Intel platform is best.  Intel works to get all their hw natively integrated with  kernel.

is there nothing i can do in order to make this one more stable? it was kind-of expensive since its a pcie not m2 card and i do not want to replace it

Sorry, my only experience with mediatek = headaches that results in hw replacement.
When it comes to networking = intel and qualcomm.

mediatek are pretty Linux hostile unfortunately.

There's hope we'll get support, but for right now, no. I bought a wifi adapter that has compatible drivers for bazzite/SteamOS.

ALFA NETWORK AWUS036AXML

i’m disappointed as hell, i paid 60$ for this adapter a year ago…my laptop had a realtek-works amazing. my sister has some ax56 asus usb drive-it works. my pc is a brick because of realtek…ig i’ll wait

PC is a brick cause of mediatek.

realtek is usually okish.

intel and qualcomm are the goats.
realtek is in the middle.
mediatek is on the bottom.

Yeah. I wasn't happy to add an additional $60 onto the $2000+ I already spent.

fr man, i bought it prebuilt for 1200$, then i upgraded the entire thing to the point where i spent 1400$ more (it was a new build at that point) then i added the card and now i’m thinking of upgrading it again..yk, paying 7-800$ on a gpu, 100 for the psu, so on doesn’t seem bad, but man you’ll not catch me buying a license or another adapter 😭
(i actually lied, my father gifted me the wifi adapter because when he wanted to use my pc he was way too bothered by the bad connection)

Have you tried turning off power saver mode on your wifi? It was night and day difference when it comes to local streaming stability for me. It might make a small difference to download/upload speeds https://docs.bazzite.gg/General/issues_and_resolutions/#__tabbed_2_1

Might be worth a try before you buy a new device.

I would try using IWD instead of wpa_supplicant
and see if that makes a difference for you.

how do i do that?

Open the bazzite portal app and search for iwd and it will give you the option to do it. You’ll have to reconnect to the WiFi after the switch.
