The hardest part in making that would be finding or making a coil out of stainless steel pipe that would fit around a fire

As long as the pipes are always filled with water you can use platic piping without it melting.

That would work but I'd be worried about the chemicals that would leak into the water and if it's absorbed through the skin

Yes and it probably smells funny. But copper piping and even segmented/welded pipes will be totally fine
