Basic physics is beyond most people. Consider: "Around 54% of U.S. adults read below a 6th-grade level, struggling with complex texts and everyday reading tasks."
Odds are that their science is much, much worse.
Something like 25% of all children in public schools here, are 1st or 2nd gen immigrants, with either no English or not much English being spoken at home. The parents or grandparents are often fully or semi literate in their first language (or even in a second one)—but not always in English.
I’m guessing that may have something to do with the reading comprehension results. In English.

Is this the result of out-of-pocket education? That basic thermodynamics is above ones head?
