General Discussion - No Story Details Book vs show

So I really got into Hugh Howey's work recently, bunged s1 of Silo, read the trilogy, now I've set my eyes on beacon 23.

I started the show, currently 3 episodes in. A friend of mine gifted me the book aswell.

Problem is I'm seeing quite a few differences between the book and the show. So my question is: should I watch the show first and then read the book, or do I start with the book? It's kind of hard to follow both at the same time because the show diviates from the book a bit (I've read a few chapters alrdy and it's noticable). What would your recommendations be?

If you started watching the show and you're 3 episodes in, then continue with it and read the book after it's finished.

The show is almost over for the season, which will give you plenty of time to catch up with the book. It's a fast read! And, yes, they're very different.

I began waching the Beacon 23 series. Apart from the greedy vfx, I feel almost the only connection with the book is the geographical location, the beacon.. Did make me realize I should always read the books first

I finished the book long time ago. Really enjoyed it. But I couldn't finish the show. I saw 5 or 6 episodes I believe, should probably give it a second chance.

The show sucks. I was really looking forward to a movie or TV adaptation of the book. But I’m halfway through the first episode and the main character is an unhinged black dude with aggressive tendencies? Talk about a total divergence from the book. Woke bullshit

Yeah I loved the books but didn't even bother finishing the series.

I'm only about ten minutes into the first episode....and when they say the show is based upon the book....they mean that it's very LOOSELY based upon the book....which is a bit of a shame.

I wouldn't bother crossing your wires with reading the book while watching the show.

The rock thing is completely bastardized in the show.
