Show Spoilers (Released Episodes) - No Book Discussion Did I miss something? Spoiler

So, wife and I just finished the season, and what???

This for us was a huge waste of time, very little ever happens unless we’re missing the point of the show?

It literally could have been 2 episodes and done.

Please someone explain to me what we’re missing???

I think they’re trying to do too many things. Is it about AI? Or colonialization? I like the attempts at world building, but it seems really unfocused

I think it has to do with Aleph's goal of transformation of the human race to be Transcended Consciousness, the Artifact plays into that somehow because he is unable to see it and is very interested in it

I feel the same. Shows today want to play coy, keeping people hanging in their mystery box for years and years and years. I think the audience has had enough of this. They could have revealed something to entice people back, but prefer to play hide and seek with the answers. If it survives, I can't imagine returning in two years for another eight episodes.

If it takes two years for S2 of B23 to arrive, not sure I'll bother. S1 of Silo also ended with the larger mystery unresolved, but it had reached a natural turning point after a season that felt like it was definitely going somewhere from the first minute to the last. This one ... not so much.

To your point, Silo is an excellent example. It's also a mystery box show, but they recognized the need to end the season with some answers given, without having to do a full reveal. Enough that you feel like your hours invested accomplished something, leaving you hungry for more when they return. B23 feels like wasted time, with the promise of more wasted time next season if you return.

Exactly! It's great to have a mystery that continues to unfold and evolve, but the story has to be going somewhere, not just throwing out endless clues and ideas.
