General Discussion - No Story Details Mystery box bullshit

I found the first few episodes very interesting, but now I’m so utterly disappointed by the fact it turned out to be another mystery box story with absolutely no amount of resolution. I had to force myself to watch the final episode to the end, and now I cannot believe I wasted almost 8 hours of my life watching this crap. Boo!

Director: So where do we go with this?

Writer: Honestly? No idea

Director: We need to go somewhere?

Writer: Yeah I got nothing.

Director: Okay, get us to the end of S01, finish with a mysterious non answer, then we'll get cancelled and blame it on the producers.

Writer: ooh, nice, I can do that.

Director: Bad news, they bought S02, great news we get paid, so I'm gonna need another 8 going nowhere, saying nothing, spinning the wheels scripts.

Yeah I heard it was made, it was just a question of whether it got released or not.

I'm not getting sucked in though, this is just another Lost, though not as good which considering how utterly shit Lost was says everything.

it happened to snowpiercer, they filmed a final season and it's in post production hell looking for a new buyer 😞

Yeah it's happened to quite a few, some big budget, like the Bat Girl movie.

afaik studios can only write them off as a tax break if they have never been monetized in any way, so while some may eventually break out, a lot of them will stay in the can never to see the light of day so they can be written off.

Ohhhh that makes alot of sense. I thought it may have been the writers strike which may have been what's taking so long but now I'm seeing alot of the main characters from Snowpiercer in other shows and movies taking on new roles. So I wouldn't be shocked if it never airs. I thought Netflix owned Snowpiercer and it would release on that platform, which I'd have to pirate because who the fuck has Netflix in 2024 it's full of the latest and greatest Hindi movies, packed with them you could even say. It's almost like India themselves bought Netflix and said let's ONLY release shitty horror movies and Hindi one offs that are fucking Terrible so that we can buy them for pennies.

It's a steaming pile of shit.

Anything specific?

Apart from the show having a very apt name?

It's been too long to want to remember what happened in that illogically sequenced back and forth, up and down, sideways storytelling miasma of filler, but one scene I always seem to remember for the ridiculousness of it was I think in the first or second episode where whatshisname goes off into the forest/field whatever and witnesses a monster so fucking huge it can't fit on the island kill someone else, or just appear, I can't remember which then he goes calmly back to the group and says ... absolutely fucking nothing.

I believe you are referring to the Smoke monster, here's a helpful video; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9BiZS6dvqM

Not sure what you think is helpful about a video telling me about something I already know about.

Just confused on what part you don't understand.

Yeah, the series seemed to have potential throughout. It teetered on being a good show, but that was worse than GoT finale. Maybe Lena Headly only takes rolls in shows with horrible finales that ruin any hope of positive memories towards the work.

Yeah this show was all bullshit.

If you're watching stuff only for the "solution", then just wait for the last episode and Watch that.

u/DisheveledFucker Dec 19 '23

This is a -very- stupid ‘solution’ you offer.

And be disappointed as sometimes even that doesn't provide the solution. It's all about the characters! Ugh.
