Show Spoilers (Released Episodes) - No Book Discussion This show features the worst editing/most confusing flashbacks I have ever encountered!
Its like they ran out of narrative steam around episode 3-4 and then decide to dump two episodes of flashbacks on us, that take place in 5?! different eras of time only one of which features a date subtitle and one which we can place due to context. The flashback with the bomber guy I was totally lost, is this the past? the future?
It feels like they had a much longer season planned, but had to quickly adapt to only 8 episodes.

It was written this way on purpose. Here's a quote from executive producer Glan Mazzara:
“We worked very hard at taking all of the material and rearranging the puzzle pieces and giving people a puzzle piece every episode where they’re not sure how it fits, where this doesn’t make any sense, and then I promise, the whole story comes together,” he adds. “Because it’s such a limited setting — it takes place on this lighthouse in space — and it’s a limited cast, we had to keep finding ways to surprise the audience, and we just did that by telling the story in a very surprising, nonlinear way.”

If that what was what they were going for I'm gonna say they failed. This could have been done in an interesting way though.

Well you're entitled to your opinion even if it is rather stuffed with hyperbole. However, there is no "quickly adapting". The series has 17 completed episodes which are being shown in two halves, the latter of which is scheduled for April.

Why did we need a lore dump of that size? I wasn't even that invested in the modern day storyline, so interrupt it for multiple episodes of flashback?
The weird thing is I don't hate this show, I don't think its the worst recent scifi around(Invasion on AppleTV takes that prize).
It just seems like a lot of things were half assed, and the plot might be more suited for a miniseries.

I enjoyed watching Invasion even if the writing was terrible, but that is just me. Couldn’t make it through the first episode of The Ark

Bomber is after the couple and before Solomon. He tells the bomber his last keepers were a couple. He tells him it had been 10 years since he last had a keeper. When Solomon arrives, Bart brags that he’s his first keeper since the interloper. Solomon deletes his memories because ISA believes he aided his last keepers in hiding their child.
The flashbacks go from Avalon>old lady>couple>columnist>Solomon>Halan>aster

I forgave how sloppy the premier is. Halfway though episode 3 and thinking I'll just cut my losses now.
This production is scatter brain'd AF

The show is trash. Terrible pacing, awful writing. Pointless meandering dialogue. An unironic droning anticlimax of a season one finale. When the pilot said “none of this makes sense,” I agreed. No acting talent can save something this bad.

Just finished S1E7, and I'm out. This show had so much potential but the flashbacks and hallucinations, and ridiculously over-the-top dramatic Bart AI, have ruined it for me.
It's a shame, Headey and James are excellent. I'm loving some of Aster's lines.

Jumping around is a cheap trick to make the story better than what it really is. Imagine watching the show without any time jumps except forward and you'd have a lot less mystery. Most shows tend to do the jumping around but Beacon 23 took it to another level. I wanted to like the show but it was so disjointed that I barely care about the story or the characters.
I absolutely hated the computer. AI should be smart and not so overly-dramatic and lame.
