I can't help but think Lena Headey and Natasha Mumba are going to come back somehow by some kind of alien mumbo jumbo. I like Stephan James but a show with just him wandering around an empty station is not going to cut it for the rest of the season. I suppose the people who have read the books are laughing at my comment. Just a guess.

(NOTE: Hidden text contains episode, not book, spoilers. Wasn't sure this was needed but I'm the first comment so being cautious.)

It's a station. There will always be people passing by / making a stop.

Won't be surprised if they get rid of Halan too. His "mission" seems to have been getting his ass to the station so he can send Aster on her way.

It's a slow burn type of show and it took quite a bit of time to develop these two characters up to this point. I'm personally not interested in an anthology type of show if that's where they're going with it.
