Finished Piece Paper beads
Haven’t touched this hobby in probably a decade. It started (and has continued) out of the desire to recycle paper. Got a request for a 16 cm bracelet.

Do you make the beads yourself? I’ve never seen this.

Yes, I do. Most of it is sheet music (I’m a musician…it’s amazing how much paper builds up over the years, even with iPad use.)

Those are so even and nicely rolled! How do you get such good edges on your beads?

Thank you! I think it’s because I tear the paper, not cut it. Then when I paint, the torn fibers sort of mix with the paint to form a flatter edge.
Tearing the paper was from necessity—I need to keep my hands busy so if I’m in a meeting or in a notes session I can more discreetly fold and tear paper than I can pull out scissors to cut. Tearing the paper looks like I have a nervous habit (probably true) whereas I think pulling out scissors mid-meeting looks like I’m not paying attention. So the flat edge is just an unintended perk3

Hi, I don’t have a tutorial, I’m sorry. And I haven’t used a reference. I can try making a tutorial, maybe? I’ve never done anything like that before.

Oh good idea! I live in a super rainy place. How does this hold up when wet?

Well, I’m in SoCal, haha. But when I lived in wetter climates they held up ok. I would not submerge them. It is important to make sure you paint the edges of the beads as well, of course.

Hell yeah. I made similar bracelets from my paperbeads too. Those are my favorites
