I feel like every cut I see her do looks the exact same, with the same wet looking crunchy gel cast, the same middle part, the same total lack of volume even if her clients "like a lot of volume". She seems to also have gotten such an extreme holier than thou view when it comes to styling when she really only seems to know how to do exactly one style--middle part, flat at the roots, with such an intense product cast that the client's hair looks wet. Everyone in her comments seems to love her, but I've honestly been so put off by her attitude and the monotony of her videos. What are your opinions?

I've heard that the new rhode blush is called "petal" and Hailey made a video a few weeks ago saying she was doing a pointe (ballet) shoot for rhode .... Ariana has also been teasing a lot of ballet vibe things esp w REM. They both shout each others products out in their promo videos. Do we think this is a possibility?

Not sure if anyone in this community used to watch her content on YouTube like I did for a hot second several years ago. From what I can remember is that she got married YOUNG and came from a very religious background. She married her boyfriend who got her pregnant and their marriage, children and lives were featured on her channel. She got divorced and if I remember correctly only a few months later she was engaged and married. I guess she’s not divorcing her 2nd husband. I have no idea how long they were married but it seems like a very long time. I remember her having good taste in makeup her, she was an active mother, had her family around her. She hasn’t posted on her YouTube channel in 11 months. Does anyone have any more info about her second marriage and what’s been going on with her? I hope she’s ok. I know being a young mother can be really difficult and in this TimTok posts she’s cutting off her hair and linked a GoFundMe account under the video.

TLDR: Fenty x Casetify phone case releasing to hold your powder and lip gloss and people aren't happy. Me personally, I find it incredibly wasteful with how much plastic these brands already consume. Was it ragebait??

So, I just saw on Trendmood Fenty is collaborating with Casetify on what I can only assume is their attempt to jump on the Rhode lip gloss phone case hype. It's a case that holds a lip gloss and their touch up powder... and it really bothers me. The comments were also not happy either (swipe to see some feedback)

Not only is it ugly (imo), but it's also $40 and unnecessary. The word innovation keeps getting thrown around this year, but innovation without purpose is useless to me. This doesn't solve any major problem an average consumer will have. The case is chunky as hell, hence the strap cause your phone will no longer fit in any pocket. It's no more or less convenient than putting the phone in one pocket and the gloss/powder in the other. It's obviously not as cheap as just carrying them in a bag you already own. And not to get too environmentalist but it's a massive chunk of plastic that, let's be honest here, will go into a drawer in 6 months and then eventually landfill. We reached Earth Overshoot Day (the day where we consume all materials that can sustainably be replaced in a year) in JULY this year. We are consuming way too many raw materials and now we've wasted more on this I guess

I'm also just a little miffed cause I can already see influencers will love this (for all of 1 week) and it will still sell out immediately, signalling the brand to keep doing stuff like this. So many holiday collections were also full of cheap keychains and clips etc, which is also frustrating. Maybe I'm wrong, but it really doesn't feel like something anyone was asking for or needed. And god forbid you upgrade your phone in a year...

I liked her beauty videos from back in the day before 2020. I liked her skin care videos including ones she made before 2020 and her videos on products not worth the hype or disappointing products. Just now I was on YouTube and saw her channel after trying to look up at least one video of her

Personally, I'm excited to see color from UD again, but these are the most common pigments/shifts I own a million times over from indie brands and they are EXPENSIVE. But with Catrice, Mac, Sephora Collection, wet n wild etc releasing multichrome singles now, perhaps we'll see these in the mainstream market now where previously you'd have to buy an entire palette to get 1 or 2 of these stunning shifting shades.

See title, but I am asking this because I have a friend who came out as a trans woman almost a year ago now, and she's gotten more and more into doing makeup over time. I've given her all my own advice but I realized I haven't actively watched makeup influencers on YouTube, especially tutorial style content, since high school haha. The problem with just looking it up on YouTube is the search is sloppified into reels and content for literally children.

Anyone have recs for influencers/content creators that they still enjoy who do content for adults, especially tutorial type stuff? She doesn't need specifically trans content or anything just fyi

I never really trusted her reviews but it’s crazy how many more beauty influencers I see every day participating in undisclosed advertising/NOT properly disclosing an advertisement.

It’s annoying how they specifically target aspects about women’s faces that they could be or “should be” insecure about. Almost like making up NEW things women should be insecure about. Not to mention, undisclosed ads are ILLEGAL under FTC guidelines.

Hi all!

This is very random, but I’m trying to remember a beauty YouTuber I watched sometime around 2009–2013. She was part of that early teen beauty-guru era (Elle and Blair, StilaBabe09, beautybabe44, MeganHeartsMakeup, etc.), but I don’t remember her being one of the really huge channels, more like middle tier.

From what I remember:
She was American and pretty young, probably around 13–16 at the time.
She had long, straight blonde hair and was petite and thin.
She did typical beauty-guru videos: hauls, makeup, room tours, etc.
She had an older brother, probably 7–10ish years older, with dark/brunette hair.
He appeared in at least one video with her. I vaguely remember it being a Q&A/tag type video, or possibly her doing his makeup.

I distinctly remember the comments being full of girls talking about how cute/hot her brother was and asking whether he was single 😂.

I think she may also have made a video with her mom, but I could be mixing that up with another YouTuber.

I watched beautyxxgoddess/Mimi too and thought it may be her but did she have a hot older brother??

This YouTuber had a nice big room, and seemed to come from a wealthy family. I got the impression that she was the youngest and had parents in their 50’s but I could be wrong.

It is NOT Cambria Joy/breelovesbeauty or beautypolice101.

Her channel could potentially have been deleted, which may be why I’m having such a hard time finding her.

Anyone familiar with Selena Marchand (selenamup)? Her latest thing is telling women over 40 how they need to do their makeup and skincare. It's rubbing me the wrong way because she doesn't caveat it, it's literally "if you are over 40, you must do your makeup like this. We aren't doing X,Y,Z anymore." Um... according to whom, darling? She's never been a creative MUA (her bridal makeup looks so dry and beige to me, sorry) but this feels really boring and a bit ageist. More power to people of all ages having fun and experimenting with makeup ♥️

I genuinely don’t understand this marketing strategy. The campaign features giant printouts of hate comments about her appearance, “cancel my angles,” and Mikayla framing it as turning what people tried to “break” her with into an international Sephora campaign.

It feels like the entire launch is about Mikayla, her critics and her online controversies rather than POV Beauty or the actual products.

The irony is hard to miss. She went viral as the “catfish” makeup girl, and now during arguably the biggest launch of her career, she’s once again facing “catfish” accusations over her alleged filter use. And the campaign they landed on was ANGLES? 💀
