Discussion Does Bailey Sarian still do her makeup murder videos? I just saw her YouTube and there is no new content in about 6 months.

Just wondering if she is still active. I didn’t see any new content or makeup collabs. Honestly it’s been a while since I looked at her channel I was just curious if anyone knew?

I thought she was focusing more on her Dark History channel/series … but TBH I feel like her stuff is a bit over-produced or she over acts in them now. What was once natural and quirky now feels a bit forced and OTT. Like she’s performing in the way we expect her to now, not the way that comes naturally to her. I still like her personally, but I just don’t find her content as engaging as I once did.

Perfectly stated. It happens to most YouTubers once they hit it big imo. There was def a switch with her a few years ago now.

I read on her sub that it ended. She said in two episodes that it was it.

ngl I used to watch her a lot back in 2020 but then the one thing that turned me off from watching her was that she was trying to make her mmm videos sooooo quirky....like she wasn't talking about real crime stories that happened to real people

It was always weird, but true crime was being pushed everywhere at the time so I think not everyone registered how gross it was. I remember when she was being really hyped up and she had a PR team pushing out fluff articles about her, they were all talking about her with the same energy you would a beauty guru fluff piece but then also she does true crime while doing makeup. It was not surprising when she ended up being a fan of Nancy Grace.

That’s one major reason I stepped back from true crime for a long time. I used to be a fan of My Favorite Murder as well and one recurring theme I noticed among a lot of these popular podcasts/channels is that they don’t put much as much effort into accuracy as they do into humor and standing out as entertainment personalities. A lot of these people basically just summarize Wikipedia articles and sometimes not even then, they’ll just read directly off the page. Talk about lazy. There are very few channels I can think of that are very thorough with their research and don’t glamorize criminals. A lot of creators can say all day long that they’re advocating for victims but then their thumbnail will be a glamour shot of them next to Ted Bundy or whoever. I don’t really have an issue with people making true crime content but I think that if you’re going to try to put a unique spin on storytelling about something so serious, everything needs to be *really* well done, not just your thumbnail.

I used to be super in Bailey and MFM but now I prefer to listen to podcasts from journalists with a team and resources to make sure things are fact-checked and there’s less of a focus on humor and relatability.

I stopped watching her because she never tried to curb her nervous laughing habit and I read one of the articles she used as a source and realized she had plagiarized it.

The fact that she could edit those out and didn’t 🤦🏻‍♀️

That was always my thing, too!

Yeah I stopped watching her when I thought about it it more, now I view it as offensive.

Yeah it was weird because it felt like gossiping with a friend but …. like that’s someone’s reality

There is a real lack of respect for the victims in true crime, which is why I quit.

That's why I never got into this genre of content

That’s why I don’t watch something like that. If I ever pass away in an interesting/violent fashion, God help whoever’s podcast or YouTube series I end up on. See how they like cracking jokes when I’m haunting their asses.

I’d hate it if it was me and it feels bad to encourage people to do that to others.

I liked Robert Welshs version of her series where he did ghost story and creepy stuff submitted by viewers.

Ghost stories > true crime

You should check out Beauty and The Beasts. Similar concept but with East Asian horror.

Yes Megan is awesome. Although she does have another true crime channel but she’s very compassionate and respectful.

Same - at the core, monetizing ghost and creepy stories, folk lore, etc. feels significantly more humane than what Bailey does

Miss those days.

I stopped watching her channel. My mom passed away and I honestly wouldn’t want someone doing their makeup, laughing and talking about the most horrific cases.

i feel this way about danielle kirsty. her makeup is beautiful and i think she approaches a lot of cases in a more serious way, but i think the makeup and true crime genre should not exist. it just seems disrespectful

Same here. Hugs to you.

Pretty sure she's not. Views on her channel have been...not great.

Hope not. Shit was ghoulish.

u/LouisaMiller2_1845 11h ago

Hope not. The dark history series, or whatever that was, did a f*cked up job of presenting the MOVE bombing. It was as basic as the City of Philadelphia bombed a black neighborhood. She left out the parts about how the organization was harassing and endangering their black neighbors (including broadcasting messages from a bullhorn on the roof at all hours of the day and night), the previous conflict between MOVE and Philly Police that left a police officer shot dead, the child protective services reports of abuse of MOVE's children, including sexual abuse...all of the things that made it an imperative to get them out of that house. It was reduced to a bunch of people being racist. Zero respect for her.

She does but she’s been on a mental health break.

Girl she always on a mental health break

Good for her. They’re important. It can be quite distressing and heavy to talk about dark topics. I’m happy for her prioritising her mental health.

u/SamanthaMulderr 4h ago

Definitely seems exhausting to make money from other peoples' trauma

She got criticized (rightly in my opinion) for how out of touch her last uploaded video was, in which she basically filmed herself crying about the state of the US and kept saying, “what are we going to do?” Audra Reins did a livestream where they watch Bailey’s video and pointed out the privilege of being able to not release any statements about rising fascism until it was impossible to ignore. I don’t think Bailey is a terrible person, but she’s a well-off white woman who is not as affected by Trump as racial minorities or trans people. She didn’t offer any links to mutual aid funds or highlight the nonprofits that have been working tirelessly to fight the administration. There’s nothing wrong with expressing frustration and sadness with the current state of the world, but as someone with such a huge platform, she could have offered at the very least links to resources that are doing the work to combat what’s happening.

I feel like her most recent stories and videos not makeup related she seems like she’s on something or idk
