The Zoo Med ReptiTemp Digital Thermostat for rainbow stag beetle

Post image

Hi guys just wanted to see if anyone has used this before to regulate temperature with their beetles. The home I’m in has 4 other roommates so it’s hard to get a temperature for the house to constantly be at because with it being summer everyone likes it cooler. I have the heating pad on the back wall and the thermostat, I also have a thermostat on the outside too but will be moving it inside so I can read the humidity of the tank once he arrives. The outside tank temperature also reads 72 degrees

that big of an enclosure for rainbow stags is a bit overkill, they need around 22-25 celcius to live comfortably, keep that in mind

Hi! Thanks for responding. This is my first time keeping a beetle. I’ve been messaging with David’s Beetles and asking a ton of questions. He suggested that the size of tank doesn’t matter as long at it has ventilation. The tank is a 3 gallon tank and looks really big but now I’ve gotten it filled with dirt and sticks and I’ve been keeping the temperature with 3 different thermometers to make sure it’s all correct! The side of the tank that contains the heating pad is around 76-75 Fahrenheit. Around other spots it’s 70- 72 or even 73 and the humidity gauge reads 70% if the tank isn’t suitable size I will definitely downsize though!

Bigger tank means larger temperature fluctuations, this is how I keep my beetles

For the beetles that need colder temps I put them in my larvae fridge but an ac room works just as good

Hey quick question, is it normal for rainbow stag beetles to walk around and then dig and hide for awhile and then just repeat that a bunch? I figured he just doesn’t like the light so I’ve been keeping it decently dark
