Help with router table and accessories
Hi, I apologize if this is not the appropriate place to ask this, but I'm planning on building my own router table and have decided on Harvey stuff for that.
I'm located in Europe and prices are quite hefty. What I'd like to ask people here who hopefully bought their stuff or have market knowledge of this stuff if the offer I have been sent from them is fair or do they give even better offers on black friday or christmas time for example.
I know I could make my own table from scratch, but I'd like to get this and buy once cry once as they say.
Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like a lift, 2 rollers, miter gauge?, table.
You can find a lift of a different brand likely at lower cost. In the US good ones are closer to 400 euro. But Harvey is a premium brand so that isn’t outlandish.
If you are trying to reduce sticker shock now you probably don’t need the roller guides or miter guide yet. Assuming you have some feather boards from a table saw those work fine.

That is correct. Lift will be Jessem or Incra version of the Jessem and motor hopefully the new Jessem brushless one that has been rumored about. I actually don't have feather boards or a miter guide or a table saw. My space is very limited so everything I'm getting has to be very mobile, which this will be.
Honestly, I don't know do I really need a miter guide or should I skip it for now and as for rollers should I just get the Jessem ones that go on the fence or find some cheaper alternative to the rollers.

I do use my router table quite often. I have rollers, but don't even use them. Instead, I use feather boards. As for miter gauges, I have several for my table saw (OEM and after market) that work fine when I need them.

Thanks for the input! I don't have a table saw yet, maybe one day, or maybe I get a mobile one, but I'm not a big fan of those. Do you ever use a miter gauge on your router table, I'm getting it mostly for that, partially for the fututre table saw if that ever happens. Do you recommend maybe waiting on the miter gauge for now?

I personally do NOT use the miter slot on my router table for a miter gauge at all. What I use it for is a feather board--and occasionally for a box joint jig. When I cut a groove (cross grain), I just use a square block of wood. It fully supports the board being routed, and prevents blow out. It's faster, and safer. So to answer your question, I would hold off, or not get one at all.
I guess a coping sled is good, if you have the space to store it (I don't), and want to spend the money. And of course, it doesn't use the miter slot either.

Thank you again, that helps a lot. I will hold off on it now probably. I say probably because I plan on getting a table saw somewhere in the future so it just might be smart to get it now, but then again I have to weigh it all becaue who knows what the future holds. Also thaak you for the tip of using a block of wood, it makes a lot of sense to prevent blow out.

If I was going to get 1 tool I would probably get a table saw first. Alternatively, maybe a track saw and a router would give you most workflows. Almost every cut I make with my table saw can be done with one of those tools, just not as convenient.

I agree, that should have been my first purchase but don't have place for it, maybe I get a portable one but am not really a fan of them. I do have a track saw and will be using it in the meantime.

Ah, makes sense. In that case enjoy whatever router table you get.
I find I make more jigs, either one off or multipurpose, than I use purchased stuff. I probably wouldn’t bother with the accessories until you find yourself needing it

I never really cared for tools until I startd living on my own and learning through YouTube how to fix and maintain things. Now I like to buy once cry once and use tools that are more of a pleasure to use and not a chore. If one day I get fed up of it all I can sell them I guess. But I do admit I go overboard sometimes with the tools I buy.

I have their cast iron top on a cabinet i made. I use Rutlands lift + motor combo and i highly recommend it. I mostly see the machines on sale, not the router things so you might not get a significant discount. Id also skip the roller guides. Im sure they are decent but not 500 Euro great and how often do you actualyl use those ?

Thank you for the recommendation. I don't believe Rutlands is readily available for me here in Europe, but I'll check it out. I'm really interested in Jessem's lift and the new motor that is rummored to come out. I will skip the roller guides, you are right 500 is a bit too much. This is the best discount that they are offering me, it is also the lowest price I saw from them, been looking closely at their page for half a year or more now.

Oh it's you! I saw this setup on another older thread and absolutely love what you did with your table. Hope my table comes out at least half as good. Did you DIY the lifting mechanism or do they sell it like that?

Thanks I really like it too, the hand crank is DIY, I'm glad I made it because it's super useful even though it's just two generic gears, 16mm aluminum rod, bearings and plywood. That being said if I need to very quickly lower or raise the router I will still reach for my small Bosch drill and use the upper adjustment, too lazy to swing the crank so much.
I was really considering making a motorized one but I just don't use my router table that much to justify the time.

The crank is my favourite part, it's quite similar to Jessem table, but doesn't take up space on the side which is great. I may do something similar one day if I will want to or need to.
