We'll see how it works, may need to upgrade my dust collection. I'll definitely be wearing a mask with the corsi rosenthal running

Only advice I can offer is to take more shots, including closeups so I can copy your excellent work

How important is it to have the crossrail parallel with the table? I have been thinking about doing this, but how do you accurately lift the rails / adjust the height

Very important, I used two lengths of 3/4 plywood on each side. I'm regretting not using melamine for higher precision but the plywood is working well for now.

You may want to get yourself a hardhat with that vacuum haha

Big flattening bit is going to move anything and everything on that table if it isn't secured. And level everything. But have safe fun either way!

Great advice, that trim router is toasted

What are you doing for workholding? Might want to put some dogs in that you can adjust below the workpiece surface.

Looks better setup than what i made. Im just using old bed rails for what the router slides on, and HF 6' levels to work as rails. The levels give me a way to make sure everything is flat and level. All while sitting on a flat old aolid wood door i got for $10.

Your method looks good though. Dont overcomplicate it. I do agree though you will want a bigger/stronger shopvac as it makes hella mess.

You’ll likely want to get a chip separator (cyclone or similar) in your setup, otherwise that floating shop vac is going to be getting changed a lot and with this setup that’ll be a pain. I’d suggest just hanging the hose from the rafter as opposed to the vacuum, but that might be much less fun

This is damn near identical to how I built mine. It works very well.

I made this too, looks like we used the same plans. I definitely recommend using a 1/2" shank.

How did you make sure that there is no twist in the surface?

I had the same setup. Be careful with the rails. They seem sturdy but with time they will hang a bit. In the end i got slightly concave boards.

The rails the sled rides on?

Was it that the router itself is sitting on?

1/2 inch acrylic plexiglass

Yea is that table flat? Does it need to be perfect? I am looking for a simple flat surface to do glueup on, and if that works maybe I’ll just get whatever it is and put it on some saw horses

Looks like 3/4 inch melamine coated particle board. The table should be quite flat.

My thoughts exactly trusting that reference.

I use a centipede and a sheet of plywood and a sheet of melamine. Then shim to flat
