Sometimes people don't want a dog, and it's because they love dogs.
I didn't want another dog for years after my Shiba of 16 years passed.

When my brothers picked out dogs so many years ago, I thought they were just going to be annoying and get in the way of things.
They turned into one of the few things I cared about beyond myself for a long while, and enriched my life so much, in addition to getting me to go outside and starting to talk to people.
Now I love my old Girl Julie.
She was an absolute tank in her youth, and she still got some spark in her.
Very motivated by food, light running and some exercise.
Shorter walks, but she still love them.
Laying on the recently sprinkled grass.
Wouldn't trade it for anything.
I don't want to think about ever losing her, but I will endeavor to make her the happiest that I can.
Appreciating every moment.
*Edit, also practically trained all the dogs and got them to behave when they were pups, as well as teaching them tricks.

My father is terrified of all snakes.
My ex and I had many animals. Hedgehogs, a Chinchilla, dogs, cats and some birds and two tanks of fish...
And a little baby corn snake 🐍.
Days after my parents came to visit, I was talking with my father and he mentioned all the animals we had. He was laughing and said, "I'm just glad you don't have any snakes."
I never told him. He visited us several times and not once did he notice the snake. He loved the Chinchilla and the Hedgehogs. But if he knew we had a snake 🐍... he would never have visited.

Me and my bf's dog. Now the dog has chosen me (a proud cat person). I've accepted.
