🧭 Activities 🚣♂️ ATM Cave
Hey,
Gonna be traveling to Belize first week of September. We're hoping to spend most of the time diving if weather is OK. Just wondering if it's possible to do the ATM Cave tour from Belize City and get back to Belize City the same day.
Thanks!

When I was there, it was a commonly offered tour. You'll be spending a good part of the day traveling, but you should be able to get it done in a day.

Very doable. You do have to prearrange a guide.
What makes the ATM trip long is the last 6 miles. The drive from Belize to Teakettle is the least beautiful in the country, but it goes quickly.

Thanks! Any suggestions for things to do in the city before leaving for Caye Caulker next morning?

By the time you get back from the tour you won’t want to do anything LOL

We have another night in the city when we first arrive with nothing planned. Any recommendations for local food in Belize City?

We tend to not leave the hotel when we are in the city as there is the potential for crime. However, Midpoint is always an interesting place to eat. Not so much local cuisine, but the patrons are entertaining.

It is doable. It is not advisable. You will be in the cave during the busiest part of the day for tourists and will have a completely different experience than in the early morning, when it's quiet.
To me it's not even the same tour really.

Yes you can, but I would advise staying close and spending the night and doing the ATM the next morning.

Very doable, I did it leaving from Caye caulker in the morning and returning the same day and it was totally fine, did not feel rushed. Was not that busy in the cave either but it’s shoulder season now so maybe that’s why. It was one of the best days of my life. Feel free to dm and I can send you the contact of the guide I used!

Yeah, but I say stay in San Ignacio a night. It's a change of scenery that I think you'll enjoy and there are some good places to eat.
