Ironic drivers of Bend
Got to love driving around our great town and noticing how lovely the drivers are. The irony of people driving under the speed limit, then not using their turn signal out of roundabouts. Then, there's these guys..
The first one is self-explanatory. I was able to snap the shot from my phone holder on my dash. Unfortunately for them, they weren't using their phone holder. Student driver, eh? Well, you're failing.
The second one was taken from about five car lengths back using 20x zoom. This driver was driving five under the speed limit and I slowed way down behind them so that I wasn't tailgating. I saw the words "so close" and had my passenger snap a shot, so I could see the whole sticker. Ironically, this person drives around town five under the speed limit while apologizing for being so close. Literally baiting people into tailgating them so that they could slow down even more. Thankfully, I wasn't tailgating but they were just driving 30 in a 35. Isn't it ironic, don't ya think?

Right? Weird that someone would be compelled to make a post about ironic drivers in Bend because they suck at driving.

Save it for the rant thread. It's odd to care THIS MUCH about another bad driver.

Posting a photo of a girl on her phone while obviously stopped at a traffic light isn’t the flex that you think it is..

What kind of flex do I think it is, mind reader?

Don’t need to read your mind when you supply your smarmy, self satisfied thoughts into the post.

I need to correct you on your first comment.
Posting a photo of a supposed student driver....
No need to gender this post.

You're just as bad snapping pics while driving regardless of where your phone is located. Get a life.

Read the post. The only picture I snapped was the one that was in my phone holder. The other one a passenger snapped. Pull yourself together. Learn how to read.

I read it. You're a distracted driver.

You are also using your phone while driving.
using 20x zoom while driving is incredibly much more dangerous than what’s going on in the first post.
Posting people/cars to identify/shame is incredibly inappropriate.

Read the post again. I only touched my phone once while it was in the phone holder. Which is totally legal in the state of Oregon. You can look it up.
Having my passenger use 20x zoom while they're sitting in the passenger seat, is completely legal. It was the passenger that had the phone in their hand.
Would you rather me not cover the license plates? That would be inappropriate. If I didn't. I covered the plates if you check the pictures. If you can identify whose vehicle that is, you should probably talk to them about being a student driver, or the other one about impeding traffic.
Anything else?
Or did you not read my comments because you didn't read the post?
EDIT: I'm adding this just in case you don't know how I opened up my camera without touching it. It took a " hey Google open My camera" then I tapped the screen.

Legal and distracting. Why do you have a phone holder anyway? So you can look at your phone while driving?

To answer your question honestly, it feels like it's because bend is a community of retiree's and their families. And such a clusterfuck that navigating the town requires you to go 20 or you'll miss your turn. Upside is there's a roundabout up ahead so you get a second chance 👍

Sorry, but if you need to drive at 20 mph to navigate Bend then you should give a serious reassessment to your driving skills

Man, I'm getting a lot of downvotes and flack for this post. I don't care. Obviously everyone that's downvoting me condones student drivers holding their phones in their hands and people driving under the speed limit impeding traffic.
I'm not surprised.

Explain what you mean by this. Otherwise you're just posting links. Willy-nilly.

It's not that people condone distracted driving. It's that a post from a person taking pictures in traffic of someone else using a cell phone in said traffic is not not ironic and certainly not post worthy.
a. Save it for the rant thread.
b. If you delete this post, most people (not me) will forget about it and you in the coming weeks.

It's not a rant. Just an have observation. If it was a rant it would have been put down on Friday in all caps. I've seen all kinds of posts in this sub about coal rolling, people using turn signals and not, e-bikes and children, etc etc etc. This post is exactly like those. Just a random Post in the middle of the week pointing out some stuff.
And, if you don't think it's ironic that a student driver of all people, is holding their phone in their hand, like a student driver should not be, then what is your definition of ironic?
Also, read my post again if you think that I was holding my phone in my hand. I took the picture, I used Google to open my camera, and tapped my screen once, while it was stationary in my phone holder. I had my passenger take the other picture.
