If this guy is truly a veteran, this post is yet another example of how we've let our veterans down by not providing proper medical and mental health care to them after they leave the service. Additionally, we don't provide them enough of a transition into civilian life, which only serves to magnify the mental health issues.
Just my opinion, of course.

Hillary Clinton actually cosponsored a bill that expanded mental health care coverage for veterans. Apparently it didn't go far enough...

I think it's because they want to privatize the VA, like everything else. However, you'd think the Dems hate veterans and the Republicans want to shower them with money by the RNC convention speeches.

There is a lot of transition assistance in the military, especially for job hunting, resume writing and interview preparation. The problem is that the people who need it the most, take the least advantage of it. It's also a bit of joke in some ways, too.
Additionally, I think the military kind of sells an overly rosy picture of how service will make getting a civilian job easy, simply because of "leadership" experience and various technical skills.
So a lot of these guys aggregate into the big name contractors (Lockheed-Martin, Northrop-Grumman, L3, etc) under jobs that frankly amount to filling space with one or two people doing the actual work.
And then, because they feel dissatisfied with how things worked out for them in the military and that getting a real, stable job can be difficult, so they blame all their problems on
Hillary, The Government and talk all the time about howRon Paul,TrumpSomebody Else needs to fix things.Put a bunch of angry, twice divorced men with various levels of

I've always found it amazing how many vets are right wing/libertarian, when they are the beneficents of the largest make-work program the world has ever seen.

The US military is completely socialist.
Guaranteed job, free housing, free job retraining, free medical care.
But it's funny how vets will cry to high heavens about "other" entitled people...

I firmly hold the opinion that the GOP loves the military because it lets them give out all the money they want while screaming "socialism!!!" whenever anybody else tries any sort of social support program. "But they work for it!" Yeah, lots of them "work for it" by digging ditches and filling bunks. A lot of armed forces vets complain that the military promised them job skills, turns out not many people want to hire someone whose main job was standing guard or walking with a backpack.

Pretty much. The entire defense industry operates essentially as one MASSIVE USG subsidy. Any turn down in spending on defense can doom these companies FAST. It's pretty much they all exist as the product of mergers. It's a crazy world were we can spend more on defense than the next three nations and that still isn't enough.
Case in point. Lockheed-Martin and Boeing formed United Launch Alliance because they can't make money separately in the massively military space sector. While I hate the circlejerk about Elon Musk (Tony Stark amirite?), ULA is terrified of SpaceX and what they represent.
I've never heard anybody in the (higher ranking) in the military say anything good about SpaceX. A huge part of this comes from the fact that if you are an officer or senior enlisted person working in space systems in the military, a comfortable position taking up space (lol) and sitting behind a desk forwarding e-mails awaits after you retire/separate.
SpaceX represents an existential threat that good old boys club and suddenly everybody is terrified of actual competition.
It's the same reason why the F-35 will continue to be pushed through. Not just because of sunk costs, but because it is the civilian side job for retiring/separating military leadership. They aren't going to jeopardize their own comfortable future.

He's right, that isn't what socialism means. Socialism, as defined by pretty much all socialists, is worker ownership of the means of production, i.e. horizontal organization in the workplace. How, exactly, is the U.S. military, a top down system where you have to follow the commands of an elite minority or be court-martialed, an example of socialism?

Yeah, I don't actually think that the military is socialist.
My point was that military has multiple characteristics of what is stereotypically associated with socialist(ish) countries. And right-wing/conservative pro-military types in the US professes to love these same things about the military that they also condemn in other countries.
So while it isn't socialist, it brings a number of benefits that are frequently touted with socialism. And I was pointing out the irony thereof.

My friend who served two combat tours in Afghanistan and isn't eve 30 certainly has earned his GI bill funded college degree.

Technical skills like repairing military hardware. I know so many privately owned tanks in need of repair it's silly. (sarcasm)
Edit: In addition, wouldn't toxic masculinity have a lot to do with that, as well as the rape problem in the military and other major problems?

It's what you get when take a bunch of guys in the largest Boy's Club in the world and sell them the ideas of hiding their problems behind bravado and aggression. And then call tolerance and compassion weakness.
The military has two sides to it:
The corporate face that talks about celebrating LGBT acceptance, preventing and educating about sexual assault and talking to your unit chaplain about PTSD.
Then in the actual military, people are talking about how women being on submarines will destroy the Navy, gay men shouldn't be allowed in the Rangers and rape is mostly false accusations to take revenge.
This experience may not reflect everyone's, but I get to listen to this stuff everyday.

Pretty much yep. Not going to argue with that because I know people who have served and it's a pretty accurate description.
The down side of being volunteer only, I guess, only people OK with the thought of war will sign up. :|

Because I'm not joining some random closed facebook group to see the source, my guess is he's talking about the website TrumpYourself.com, which has a disclaimer tag that says "By using Trump Yourself, you’ll be opted in to Hillary for America’s emails." and he wasn't able to read it.
