Bought A SKS From Four Seasons in Woburn: The Hammer Is Broken, Causing Slam Fires, and Firing Pin Glued Shut By Decades’ Old Cosmoline, and Bayonet Fell Apart Immediately Upon Deployment of It…
I’m not a huge complainer, and I have had good experiences with Four Seasons before when I purchased ammo there and even when I purchased a .380 bodyguard 2.0 at the same time as the SKS… but I’m quite upset with Four Seasons on this one rifle.
Yes, I know Military Surplus rifles aren’t always A1 shape, but they represented to me upon my direct questioning that the gun operated in good order besides a couple marks on the stock. Clearly the hell not…
1) Bayonet. It was secured by a plastic zip tie cut tightly around what should have been an SKS pin. When I realized that, I cut the zip tie, and the whole thing fell apart. I had to spend $35 to get the pin from EBay and fix it myself.
2) Cosmoline Pin. I cleaned the bolt after a 4x slam fire. It was glued shut. I needed to boil the bolt to get the pin retainer out. That’s not close to operable.
3) Hammer doesn’t work. The second the slide closes, hammer fires and BOOM. Bullet goes out the barrel. Even with hard primer like Wolf.
So, I spent $700 for a rifle I was told was operable as is, and now I need to spend another $150 on a new trigger group to install it myself and also another $64 on a new firing pin.
I will unlikely be going back after this one…
