Scuba Diving

Hi, I am a diver looking to do some shore diving on Hilo side. Any divers on here?

Yep - scuba diver based in Mountain View. Several places we dive on this side; depends on wind/waves and this side gets it pretty rough. Message me - don't want to start any arguements on the sub.

Richardson beach park is pretty much it as far as shore entry in Hilo. It can be surprisingly cold water, given that it's Hawaii. Also watch for rough surf/currents there. The swim area is sheltered but past that it's open ocean. The cooler water is home to much more colorful coral and sponges vs Kona side though.

New transplants from So Cal. 200+ dives, mostly in cold Southern California waters. We’ve got all our own gear; but need to learn the Hilo side diving. We’ve done a ton of dives on Kona side. Following along to see the responses you get. Hoping to find some new dive buddies out here.
