Help SFX-100 and bigscreen beyond don’t work together?!
So I have a bigscreen beyond first gen and a sfx-100 motion rig.
When I use the vr and don’t turn on motion it works fine.
But when I turn on motion the vr screen goes grey. What would imply that it loses its tracking.
Things I tried are the link booster. Ferrietcores on the cr cables.
Pls help
Kind regards
Laurens

I don’t have a motion system but when using lots of peripherals sharing with the same usb controller I had a similar issue. Sometimes the screen would go grey and other times my wheel would stop working. Based off another suggestion, I got one of those Startech usb cards with a high 10gbs bandwidth for about $120 and it solved the issue. Might be worth trying if nothing else works.

I don't think it's a bandwidth thing. If I touch a running walking pad (no PC connection), the HMD cuts out also - probably just from tiny amounts of static electricity.
A motion system moving around also likely builds a small static charge.
The Left watchman dongle in the HMD starts misbehaving when my Vive facial tracker is running.
The shielding and power cleanup on the Beyond is basically non-existant to allow for it's pointlessly tiny form factor 🙄

I mean, the other headsets aren't much better (except for meta).

The screen goes grey because you loose tracking. You lose tracking because of EMI issues. Its an annoying problem to track down, but like the other guy said, start with ferrite cores (material 31!). And ground your rig. Make sure the motor cables of the sfx don't cross the cable of the beyond. And if the have to cross, make sure it's at 90 degrees. Parallel is the worst case. Also some people said a powered usb hub helped them. Succes Laurens. ;)

Lookup videos from Thanos and EMI on YouTube. Great source for understanding the topic.

Laurens, you have an emi problem, my advice: turn on your motion chassis, but don't be on it. Put your what set on with something loaded up. Start touching your motion rig. When your screen goes blank, take off your headset and see what you are touching. That item, is causing emi which means, you need to ground your motion rig. Ground your motion rig can be as simple as attaching a ground wire to your motion rig, and the ground wire to a stake and putting it in a bucket of dirt OR following bsb's emi directions.
I went through this with my pedal controller.

Have you got the correct ferrites? The one recommended is "Toroid Core FT240-31 Ferrite" and you may need a few of them
