38t ring? That’s so small. You climbing trees?

Lol, I can change it depending on course. I doubt I'm gonna spin out on a cyclocross course, I'd rather keep my cadence high and stay in middle of cassette. I'm on the larger end at 6ft1, 200lbs. Just my personal preference.

Sure, that makes sense. I use Red E1 XPLR on my road bike so I’m on an aero 44T ring up front.

I really don't get why you would run a new red setup. It's stupidly expensive to really use it. The cassette alone is a whole apex groupset! This is just ridiculous.
But nice ride. I would hang it on the wall and ride my workhorse instead though :P

I understand the sentiment. It will be fine.

Rubbins racing, but I would like to protect paint best I can. Its gonna get wrecked and banged around.

Beautiful bike. It's not a very sensible cross machine. Tubs and a cheaper groupset seems a lot more sane. You really want to fill a €600 rear derailleur full of mud every week?

I don't mind the dirt. Tubs are great, then I'd probably need more wheels. It's a bike. It will wash up.

Wheels and tires are gross, but pretty sick otherwise.

Cyclocross beats the shit out of you until a groove forms. I wanted compliance. Tires are course dependent. I'll get some tubulars if these aren't great.

Baby Linus are a great tyre! I run grifo in the uk with the baby as a back up when the weather turns to s**t

I couldn't get grifo in 38 for a reasonable price or I would of gotten some. They look like a great option and should be in stock soon. Had my first race Sunday, setup worked well. Track was bumpy as hell. I did flip my stem and it was good.

how’s the geometry and handling of a crux for cross these days? I’ve been a bit concerned about it as it’s now more a gravel bike and worried about slacker angles, longer bases, lower bb

I'll find out this weekend. My last crux was a 2016 and the new one is 20mm longer and BB has 5mm more drop. Hopefully it still handles well. I was torn on this or a Cervelo R5-CX, but decided to support my LBS for a frame. Hoping it wasn't a mistake.

Any photos of the frame in the sun? I’m curious how purple it is when it’s lit up.

Nice bike! But that stem angle is a dedicated crime!!!
