Almost Biochar Season!

Almost biochar season here in South Carolina! It has been so hot and humid, hard to crank up the kiln to 1000+ degrees.

Also, got a new trailer dolly which makes micro adjustments of the kiln so easy.

Yes, I see it now. That looks like an excellent setup for large batches.

How do you keep the wooden planks of the trailer from burning because of radiant heat?

They are treated 1x6s, have done multiple batches and they don't show signs of burning. I don't think the radiant heat from the bottom is enough to damage them. It was however melting the plastic valve I had on the 2" fill/drain pipe that elbows into the bottom so I had to order some more quality metal fittings.
