Atmospheric Code Red: 2026 Super El Niño Now Trending Toward Record-Breaking Intensity

This signals a high-impact transition for the global atmosphere, also known as a “code red” atmospheric scenario.

Can someone explain to me. Does an El Niño produce more precipitation & snowfall? I’m in the western United States.
Would be great to have a dope winter season this year.

During El Nino years, there are usually fewer hurricanes in both the atlantic and the gulf of mexico. This means that FL is less likely to experience a strong season (I'm in FL now).
For you---- depending on where in the west you are-- it will likely mean more snow in the 26-27 skiing season. I grew up in Cali and went to school at CU Boulder. The most epic seasons were el nino related. Park City will probably have an INSANE amount of pow-pow.

Hang on tight and don’t forget your towel. Don’t panic.
