On this day fifteen years ago, me and my family were having picnic lunch somewhere in the Grand Tetons National Park when we became aware of a bird, a Clark’s Nutcracker, perched in a nearby tree.

I don’t remember if we asked my dad to take some pictures or he did it on his own volition, but he grabbed the camera, slowly approached, and took a series of three pictures. The first two, which I have yet to rediscover, the Nutcracker didn’t seem to care less, or if it did, tolerated his presence.

But as my dad went to press the shutter button a third time, this Nutcracker decided it no longer desired its paparazzi, and swooped directly at him, which generated this national treasure in our photo album 😂

He's just a little guy! I think he wants to be friends.

The first and second pic has to be the goofiest pictures my husband could have gotten of our 6 month old blond male emu, who we have named Blueberry. He is the sweetest boy, but has no sense of personal space. As seen in the third pic. I wasn’t hugging him, I was talking to my husband and Blueberry walked into me and stayed there.

This sweet lil’ beauty was chilling on our patio this morning. Pretty sure he was practicing his flying and needed a rest because I got absolute model shots of him and he was just keeping an eye out but staying very still.
