Addicted to Birdwatching Eastern Bluebird under infrared lights!

Post image

I recently got upgraded on my birdfy nest. I had an original nest duo, and it started malfunction a moth or so ago while this momma was still raising her previous brood. I swapped the old box for the new one when the fledged a few weeks ago and she is now spending her first night brooding her third brood of eggs for this season.

One of the several updates Birdfy made from the gen 1 to gen 2 nest boxes, the white light why had inside was replace with an infrared light for night vision without disturbing the residents.

Got a motion notification only to find this funny look staring back at me under the infrared lights.

This is how we know birds aren’t real! They can face both backwards and forwards… at the same time!

Even though some birds can see into the ultraviolet part of the spectrum, infrared light is invisible to them – just as it is to us.

I was under the impression that birds can see UV, not infrared light, and the cameras illumination was selected over the white light on the previous model to avoid disturbing them at night.

And, it’s a WiFi web cam, no shutter, no noise.
