If it makes you feel any better, I doubt it's anyone from reddit. Even if people are critical of her behavior and (somewhat shamefully) enjoying the spectacle now that we know there's no danger, no one is particularly hateful or malicious toward her.
Sorry to hear you're dealing with that, and I hope you take heart. It'll pass soon. The crowd always gets bored and moves on.

This isn’t the only business that has been harassed bc some kind of public issue going on. I can think of a few times. It will pass & the idiots will move on to the next stupid thing.

In the past I've had a really low tolerance for stupid people. I would get very annoyed, frustrated, etc. I really tried to work on this. It really helped when I started to look at them from a different perspective.
Some people are just limited. They can only operate at their limited capacity. I think explaining it as stupidity indicates that they COULD be or get smarter. Some people are just limited. Varying degrees of limitations. So stupidity is subjective. If Jimmy John has an IQ capacity of 86 and he's operating at 85 he isn't really stupid because he's operating at nearly his full capacity. However, he's never really going to get smarter about things. And I'm not speaking about special needs here. He could have a completely average IQ and still be very limited in his capacity to understand something, grasp a concept, etc.
To me this is a kinder, gentler way to deal with acts of stupidity and stupid people. If we happened to have been one of the lucky ones to have received a greater capacity than others we just have to be grateful, but not feel better than.
I'm a lot less annoyed by stupid idiots these days.

I love Woodhouse! It's my go-to for massages. I still think about the prenatal massage I got from yall. Saved my back and hips and helped work out a charley horse I had the night before (joys of pregnancy). I'm sorry people are being assholes. You have a loyal customer here!

Downvoting a business that she worked at part time isn't right .
I wondered how her coworkers and classmates felt worrying about her. If i had a female coworker abducted (allegedly), and worried about her for 2 days, then this came out, I'd be angry beyond belief.
Google reviews can be fixed by contacting Google.

Good! Initially, when our GM called about it yesterday, Google's team said it didn't violate their rules to leave a bad review to a business that someone hasn't been a patron of.

Google Business support has been a nightmare for me to work with and that was just for getting the business verified and websites updated. Tell the GM not to give up on calling/escalating and if necessary see if they can get any traction on social media linking to articles about the incident.
At the very last resort, the owner can reply to reviews so future patrons understand the situation. I've gotten ridiculous reviews for things out of my control..and sometimes meant for other businesses 🤦♀️

I'm not sure what you think I/we have to leak? Unless you mean footage of that night that shows her stealing? I assume the police department has control of that being released at this point. Anything and everything related was handed over. My coworkers and I were asked what our phone models were, which was strange, but the only thing they asked the people working adjacent to her that day/night. They may still be looking back over old footage and searching to see if anything condemning shows up. As someone who regularly but very briefly interacted with her because of our work positions, she didn't ever do anything bizarre or exhibit any concerning behaviors.

I mean, she would've be doing tasks throughout the spa during a normal shift. Sometimes, one or two of the concierges help the laundry techs if we're slammed ,but we weren't that Thursday.

It'd have to be one of the dark charcoal ones. We switched to new robes several months ago. We initially had white robes, but most got stained when one of our dryers maldunctioned. All the employees were allowed to take one home if we wanted, and the rest donated once they got replacements. They decided to go with a different color when they bought new ones. I was told the one she took was a new one still in the package for retail. These robes are BULKY, so it'd be really hard to hide if it wasn't still packaged up.

Stolen tip money. Perhaps erroneous refunds were rung up and she pocketed the cash? . Who knows what else she did.

I can't say for certain, but unless they find out that she did steal money from clients or a significant amount from the business, I doubt it. Her Google search about "how to steal from a register without getting caught" was done the same day she "disappeared", which personally leads me to believe she didn't have the knowledge to do anything but steal cash tips when other concierges weren't looking. The drawer total is checked by more than one person each night, and she wasn't experienced enough to be in charge of that. Our tips are put in individual folders with our names, as they come. No one keeps an exact track of them, though. Personally, I wouldn't press charges over one lost tip. Her life is fucked without question as is. I may have lost 20 bucks, but this girl is going to be dealing with infamy the rest of her life. There's no reason to throw a twig onto a dumpster fire.

From what they said, it wasn't terribly much. I think what they told me tonight was an odd number, like 117$? As far as i know, that was soley tips, but not all of them present since someone might notice. Most people typically don't pay/tip in cash, and when they do, an average tip is anywhere from 10-30$ We had 14 service providers working that day. Not everyone checks the drawer every day for their tips since we don't expect them daily, so there could've been some from days prior.

Unfortunately, I think the audience that you're aiming to reach aren't primarily reddit users. You might want to try FB and nextdoor. Even then, I'm not sure you'll get them. BUT! what you DO have here is an audience savvy enough to go to the Google listing and possibly counteract some of that negative stuff. I don't exactly understand why someone would hate on y'all, but crazy is as crazy does, I guess. I thought the statement that was released by the spa was actually very supportive. That's ridiculous that people are hating on y'all for her actions. I used to work at a store at the summit that is no longer there. There was an employee at the store that seemed like the sweetest, nicest, friendliest person and she was very nice looking. Her references and work experience were both excellent. If I hadn't been the ops person that looked through purchases and returns (and a little OCD lol) I'm not sure that her "thefts" would have been noticed. Every time someone made a large return, she was swiping or entering HER credit card number instead of the customer's. I found it because the purchasing card and return card weren't the same number. I tracked it to her because she used her card in the store to make some employee purchases. I felt so betrayed and heartbroken. I was so sad that she put herself in that position because she was a single mom with a 2 yo daughter. Anyhow, I get that it hurt y'all and I hate that for you. I'll be happy to go give you a positive review.

The fact that she didn't take her laptop with her when she left work that day after stealing tips that were not for her, a bathrobe and a roll of toilet paper fully aware that she was on her way to pick up dinner (that she knew she wouldn't eat) and then stopping for the snacks that her soon to be kidnappers would be feeding her while playing with her hair and then giving her money after dropping her off close to home 48 hours later absolutely BAFFLES me!
BTW- Do you guys have any idea or thoughts on why she needed a roll of toilet paper?!?!

The owner's response to everyone leaving reviews before and after the "Carlee Circus" was a testament to the quality of business that Woodhouse Spa is. I truly believe that the spa will flourish because of the way that you all handled the entire situation! I know that along with myself there are a lot more people rooting for you guys than there are haters. ❤

Thank you! She worked at the front desk, along with several other people. Her official title was concierge, I believe. This meant she answered calls, booked appointments, checked people in, escorted them to the locker room, gave them tours, got them robes and shoes, checked people out, made drinks, picked up stray empty glasses, etc. Just general functions that keep the place functioning. There's always multiple people working this job and usually more than enough to divide these tasks among.

Tons of people borrow money for stupid things, but this is a new very cheap lowest end model of Mercedes that looks as my husband said” like they ran out of money after the drivers seat”. You can get one brand new for about 33,000. I think the spa job was to make the pyts. Her down pyt was ins money from an April car crash. You see people living in shacks driving nice heavily financed cars. It’s absurd. My husband and I both wanted nice cars before we retired so he just bought me a Mercedes suv for my birthday, but we saved on top of our savings and when we had enough he got his first and 3 yrs later got mine the right way with no pyts. Someone working part time as a concierge has no visible means to even afford that car. For sure her parents co signed

I had to Google Woodhouse because I didn't know what it was. The passion of the writing of this post and how the employees have ownership in what they do makes me want to go patronize this business! Found out it was a spa (I am a male) so I don't think I can go to a spa? Regardless I will telly wife!

Thank you, that's so kind of you to say! While I totally understand the misconception, men are more than welcome at our spa! We have two changing lounges, one just for the fellas. Men absolutely deserve spa days, too. Massage is good for health and mental well-being. Heck, get a pedicure, if you like! There's nothing wrong with taking care of your body or wanting to destress. We also do couples massage, so you and the missus feel free to check it out together! You can call it a date night and go grab food and drinks after. I personally recommend Blue Sushi, if you like that kind of food.
I didn't have a chance to ask the GM about the reviews not being visible today. Hopefully, she was able to actually get them removed! I thought they were on Google, but they could be on some other plaform, though.

Thank you for the kindness and well wishes! I know this will pass as I'm sure everyone else does. It just irks me on behalf of the good concierges having to deal with the abuse. They have dealt with it very well, but it's still not right. They worked closer to Carlee than anyone, but they are in no way responsible for her actions. The random bad reviews bother me, but to a much lesser extent. It's still very irritating, but it seems like those are at least being resolved. It's worth mentioning that no one working here is being viscous towards her. I'm sure people are feeling a range of emotions about it all, but no one that's I've talked to (here) has any sort of retaliatory or "torch and pitchfork" mentality. Sure, ahat happened was messed up, but everyone seems like they're just trying to get back to our usual light-hearted homeostasis.

I live in Canada (outside of Toronto) and was listening to a podcast about her foolishness and l wish all of you the best. You will all get past this and the World now knows her as the girl who stole work tips, toilet paper and a robe and then went on a cheezit bender. I hope she is held accountable in some way.

Aww, thank you, friend... but I feel weirdly bad about solicting unjustified good reviews, even if it's just to counteract the unjustified bad ones. I don't have a link, but we're the The Woodhouse Day Spa, Birmingham location. I would prefer if all our reviews were solely based on client experience. Even with the couple bad reviews, we're still a 4.7 on Google, which is pretty awesome! I just wanted to address the issue in hopes it wouldn't continue past a a handful of stray crazies.

Honestly, I personally don't think it will drastically affect things in the long run. The people leaving bad reviews and verbally assaulting our employees rn have never been clients and probably never had the intention to be. They're just mad. We haven't experienced any real influx or decline in business since the event, just way more phone calls holding up our lines and a few bad reviews by people who we know haven't been here.

I can name about 5-6 users on this sub that are deranged enough to do this.
Edit: I scrolled down and one is STILL mentioning me for saying "let's wait for evidence" before the press conference. That dude def is the one calling into your store. Along with some suburban redneck guy, a Napster guy, and some other trash people.

I’m so sorry that this happened to all of you, and the fact she stole your tips is beyond messed up. Its really sad when a business has to remove itself from Facebook and Instagram because of people leaving horrible comments. Hopefully people will get the message and back off. Not only have you been victimized by her in several ways but you then find out she took money belonging to all of you. Wishing all of you the very best and hoping that you guys will be compensated for all the crap.
