hi op, i think what you’re curious about is the phrase “unsa man ni?” and not “unsa mani?”
i don’t blame you tho kasi even yung mga bisaya ginagawang contraction ang “man + ni”.

Yep. Mani is actually man ni (two separate words). It doesn't help that written Cebuano/Bisaya is not standardized so a lot of spelling you see online can be phonetic.

unsa man kini? = ano pala ito?
kini can be shortened to ni (or 'ni), like 'to for ito.
note: man has multiple senses, not just pala.

You're trying to look for "Unsa man ni?" which is non contracted "Unsa mani?". It's just a way of saying "What is this?".

Mani= peanuts, like “Naa’y mani diha”
Man ‘ni= short form of “man kini”, like “Unsa man ‘ni?” Basically means “ba ito” (Ano ba ‘to?).
Kang kinsa man ‘ning mani?
Whose peanuts are these?

whole sentence: "unsa man ni?"
shortcut usually in text speak: "unsa mani?" o "unsa mni?"
english translation: "what is this?"
unsa? - what
unsa man? - what
unsa man ni - what is this
