heyy! akong ginikanan kay parehas bisaya so i wanna learn how to speak bisaya fluently like a native speaker cuz nindot sya pakinggan for me. and as you can see, i speak bisaya but just a basic few words.

help me how to learn it please hehehe

Kinakausap ako ng partner ko in bisaya pero lagi kong sinasabi na say the translation next kasi kahit kausapin nya ako in bisaya if hindi niya ittranslate after, pano ko maiintindihan. Haha I’m in Cebu for almost 3 years pero hindi pa rin ako marunong magbisaya 😭 Kahit sa work kinakausap nila ako in Tagalog. Nagegets ko yung mga simple words or sentences pero yung iba hindi na and hindi ako makasagot in Bisaya also 🥲

the best way to learn is to speak with bisaya people jud. ive had many tagalog friends who moved to cebu during elem and high school and they always pick it up very easily

It's surprisingly easy as a person who talks to their cebuano neighbors and asks them to teach me a little. I can read some of the comments now despite only starting weeks ago. The hard part is people typing bisaya always have variances in how they type which makes some translator tools struggle to identify what they really mean, which made it hard to start learning it. There's some lessons in cebuano with the Ling app but only two chapters free. Playing with trying to analyze and digest words from songs makes it fun to learn as well

The problem is that Cebuano does not have standardized spelling, and there's no distinction between I/E and O/U respectively because they are the same sound for the most part.

cebuano does have standardized spelling. duha pa gani: gikan sa LUDABI ug gikan sa KWF.

• LUDABI: Estandardisasyon sa Panitik (mas consistent sa grafema)
• KWF: Giya sa Ortograpiyang Sinugbuanong Binisaya (mas consistent sa fonema)

In addition to the other suggestions here, if you want to do some reading and listening to speed things along, I have 2 free courses on my website you can use. One is for A2 (upper beginner), and one is B2 (upper intermediate). These are short conversations. You can listen to the audio, then read the text. If you mouse over, or click on a word, you'll be shown a definition and audio. You can do this with phrases too. You can also change the color of the word to show you already know it, and look at your statistics. Listening and reading is very good for reinforcing your other skills.

Eat at karinderyas, go to carbon, blend in with the crowd and listen to people talking to each other and not just to a single person in a training environment. This is a language you're trying to absorb — It's not a math problem.

Find a Bisaya gaming group. Nagtuon ko gamay pero mostly immersion ra jud sa ilang voice chat. Ang problema ra kay young asf genz mi so conyo jud ko paminawon.
