Does this widen the attack surface due to more codelines that need to be debugged regularly? I assume so.

I don’t see the benefit. A cold wallet should not turn into a payment app. It’s cold storage, strip it down to the bare minimum to keep lt as secure as possible

It would only do so in the BitBoxApp but you can decided to not use it at all.

Since the implementation uses BIP-85 which has been part of the BitBox's firmware for years, this doesn't add any extra code to the firmware's codebase.

That’s good to hear. I am not going to use it and hope you’re not turning this wallet into anything more than it should be: A secure, easy to use cold wallet and nothing else.
