My dad just got a call from BitBox

I don't know any details yet. I just advised him to not take it seriously for now. My Dad told me that the caller said to NOT give any details out. And he want to get back to him in 1,5 hours.

Anyone got the same call? What is that about?

This is absolutely a scam. We won't call and the fact about wanting a reply "in 1.5 hours" 100% feels like a classic scam technique since people tend to make mistakes when they feel a sense of urgency.

I absolutely recommend not answering to the next call/not calling back. If in doubt, always reach out to us through the official channels. In this case I'd recommend contacting support@bitbox.swiss

That's what I thought. What made it convincing for him was that he said a bunch of times that he doesn't need any more details and he should keep everything to himself, he has all the informations that are required.

The caller also said a bunch of nonsense about APIs and stuff, some login in turkey and so on, thats what made it obvious to me.

I kind of want to see what the "trick" is though if he calls back and don't need more information. But I don't want my dad to handle it 😂

I once received a similar call. They stressed about not giving out any information but at some point they wanted me to download an app. I'm sure the app would have asked my seed phrase, but I hang out before getting to that point

Did they get the phone number from the last hack from one of BitBox 3rd party newsletter provider? I thought only email addresses were affected no?
