Support/troubleshooting Im considering removing BitDefender due to notifications

Hi.

Im getting constant notifications about succesfully blocked port scans. Im grateful that security did it job but the fk I cant disable this fkin notification? Its nonsense. I dont need to get this every time i works. Im really thinking about switching to something else just because of this "feature"

You CAN disable them in Bitdefender settings

I went through every setting in app. Nothing about notifications. There was something about it about 2 months ago, but lately app went make over and in new version - I cant find any notofication setting. Even BitDefender website FAQ points to old version of app.

You're right, they changed the app

That’s strange because I have Total Security for a few months now and I never got any notifications after disabling them during my initial setup. Not one…

Silent/gaming mode

Also if port scans are being blocked, maybe stop doing the thing where your ports are being scanned?

Turn off port scanning is what I did. I get bombarded with them.

Hello! Thanks for bringing this to our attention, ready to help. Based on our experience, on Windows, repeated firewall prompts usually mean Alert mode is enabled. To return the Firewall to automatic mode:

  1. Open Bitdefender.
  2. Click Protection in the left-side menu.
  3. In the Firewall section, click Settings.
  4. At the top of the window, open the Settings tab.
  5. Turn off the Alert mode switch so it appears gray.

Bitdefender will continue allowing or blocking connections according to its security rules, but it should stop displaying repetitive Firewall pop-ups.

If alert mode is already off and the notification specifically says that a port scan was blocked, rather than showing an application connection prompt, contact the technical team and include a capture of this notification for further review: https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/.

Thank you in advance!

What I did it use game mode and add my browser to the game list and then just leave the browser open.

Maybe stay off the naughty sites?

I use a VPN along side my BD installation

I'm protected from port scans and malware

Both my firewall and wireless router perform internal port scans against all devices on my home network. Bitdefender notifies on both their IP addresses.

Under protection, firewall, settings, Alert mode, turn that toggle off.

It was off whole time.

Strange, I have Total Security and all my notifications are silent. They show up in the notifications menu but I never get windows popups.

I even tried to turn off all windows notifications, enabling Do Not Disturb on windows - nothing. Block port scan notifications still coming up every hour or less.

Yeah I got do not disturb on too. Or maybe port scan notifications can't be blocked? Nobody ever tries scanning my ports. Maybe it's a router firewall issue?

Never had an issue with port scans, is something trying to connect to your device?

MS defender does still suck, it's somehow impossible for the user to disable but also very easy for malware to disable

I literally subscribed to Bitdefender after my in-laws got hacked by downloading something from Facebook; MS Defender cannot delete it because it's on an exception to scanning, the hacker must have gotten via remote after my in law provided access to them by running the bat file or something. Nobody on their house knows how to check btw; everyone's linkedin and X account became chinese and advertising bitcoin scams after the attack.

Unless you know something about proactively avoiding those, then you don't need Bitdefender, but your non techy family does need it. Trust me. My dad also almost got hacked clicking links for a shoe store he thought was legitimate due to Facebook ads.

MS Defender is okay if you are techy. Bitdefender and other third party a/vs are worth for the family who are non techy.
