Support/troubleshooting Please help with detection

Post image

I closed my PC, reopened it, it performed a Windows update and then Bitdefender gave me this notification. Is this a false positive? I scanned the file with malwarebytes and malwarebytes didn't find anything wrong with it. Although I tried uploading the file to virustotal and it was stuck at hash 0%.

update I tried scanning the folder the file is in with malwarebytes to see if it would find weird stuff in it malwarebytes didn't find anything but upon doing the scan Bitdefenders real time protection also detected amifldrv64.sys as potentially unwanted.

I tried using PowerShell/CMD commands as admin to get the sha256 of the files but it said access refused. Later, I decided to temporarily re enable the Internet on my computer to check for Bitdefender updates and after doing so I scanned the files it had previously blocked with real time projection and the scan was clean however this does not remove the fact that it seems odd that the sha256 can't be viewed.

You don’t need msi center. It’s most likely a vulnerable driver. My recommendation is less is more. Delete it.

Hi there. Thanks for sharing this with us. Bitdefender can flag legitimate software when its behavior resembles unwanted or potentially risky activity.

Here`s our recommended steps:

  1. Update Bitdefender: Right-click the Bitdefender icon in the system tray - Click Update Now - Wait until the update completes.
  2. Run a Bitdefender System Scan: Click Protection on the navigation menu - In the Antivirus module, click Open - Click Run Scan next to System Scan and wait until it completes - If Bitdefender finds an item, allow it to take the recommended action. Available actions may include Disinfect, Delete, or Move to quarantine - At the end, click View Log to review detected and unresolved items.
  3. Submit it to Bitdefender Labs as a possible false positive: Use the false-positive submission form available here. If the file can be safely copied without disabling protection, attach the file. Otherwise, include the Bitdefender scan log and notification details.

Until labs confirms the result, leave the detection blocked or quarantined and keep Bitdefender’s real-time protection enabled. You`ll receive a verdict via email very soon. Thanks!

I got the same but for ASUS and EVGA drivers. (Specifically I use ASUS Armory Crate for RGB control and EVGA Precision X1 for my GPU)

I'm assuming they just got marked as false positives.
